The current MacBook has an LED LCD display so it'd be a step back if the new one didn't have one. Overall, very predictable update. Incoming UK price rise to £849 too of course.

Come Apple! Get over 5400 RPM HDD's, I mean really

What's a viable alternative at this price range?

I think this company steals them. They go to the Apple Sweatshop and steal them. How else are they getting ahold of this stuff.

So.. they just walk out of the factory with this thing? Steve's probably very pissed off at this point.

Yeah I would expect the same but with the exchange rate and tax blah blah blah we might see it sneak under to £799

It is interesting to see all of these releases of information. If the products were made in the USA and someone was on an NDA, then Apple would have significantly more actionable consequences against said individuals. Since the manufacturing takes place in countries that do not have the same laws for intellectual property as the USA, then Apple must deal with this.

Food for thought???

Made in USA? Great idea, BUT be prepared to pay double to triple the retail prices we're paying now.

The MBP went up in price with its recent update so unless the US price goes down, the only way for it to go here in the UK is up. The exchange rate is pathetic anyway.

Oh, I'm quite sure Apple has similar contracts with foreign manufacturers, filled with threatening language. It's just difficult or impossible to *enforce* them in cases like this. The best they can do is pull their business from the source of the leak, which is non-trivial.

Well Im hoping it might go down education season is about to land and this is the time were its gets busy with education institutes and students start to buy. Im hoping for lower prices but Im just wishing and hoping.

I understand where you're coming from, I hope it goes down too, but Apple wouldn't put two identically specced machines £200 apart and then have it $200 apart in the US and as long as the exchange rate is below £1 -> $1.50, the price is going up. At least you should get a free iPod and possibly a printer.

Did the form factor look a little bit different than the current MacBook?

It looked a little more rounded, to me.

*** Edit ***
Looking at the current MacBook on the Apple website, it looks the same. I guess it is just my OLDER MacBook that looks a bit more square.

BREAKING NEWS: Apple, inc invades Vietnam over iPhone 4G and MacBook 2.4 leak. Hundreds of thousands of casualties expected.

The MacBook got the unibody enclosure in October of 2009.

I think apples military can take Vietnam, apple has so many nukes from all the outdated products. Once people recycle there old computer after getting a new one they become nukes. Also the iPods become gernades and the broken headphones either become assassination wire or are used in the nukes. The old airports serve as long range transmiters so apple can sit in there headquarters and just press a button and they have full control of the nuke from long range.and the gps from all the recycled first gen iPhones guides the nukes. So let's move on we talked about the iNuke, iNade, and the iWire. So next is the WTF ********* OMG IM BEING ATTAC............End Transmission:apple:
