Did you follow normal procedure? Just making bootcamp partition disk and then do a plain Windows 7 installation?

And you had no issues with finding SSD partition, neither during install or boot thereafter?

What revision/part# for the 160 GB Intel SSD? Could it be a new series / different firmware.

And it is a 2010 model of the 13" MBP?

I installed Win 7 64 bit on my 2010 2.4 13" with the Intel 160GB G2 (latest firmware - 02HD) It did not see the bootcamp partition initially (when the system restarted to boot the Win 7 DVD after creating the bootcamp partition) so I had to reboot with the option key to select the Win 7 disk and startup again. Saw it fine that time and finished the install with no problems.

I installed bootcamp from the OS X DVD then latest bootcamp updates with the Apple updater in Win 7. Works great, have had no problems with booting/seeing the partition since. Really good performance, but Win 7 is still slower booting than OS X from the SSD.

I think there might be an issue with seeing the partition on the first boot, just reboot and start the Win 7 install again.

im planning to get Intel SSDSA2MH160G2C1 160GB SSD to be run as a primary disk on my 13" MBP. Then a WD blue 640GB in a optibay.

SSD: install MAC OS X on a 100gb partition & Win7 on the remaining 60GB.

WD 640GB in optibay: parition 300GB for Mac OS X for documents and vids etc & the remainder space for Win7 environment.

A few questions now:
Will the above work out fine?
Has bootcamp been updated recently?
Will the SSD be compatible with bootcamp?

thanks :)

I think this thread should maybe be kept to results with the 13" model. It's clear the other size models and older versions don't all suffer in the same way.

Let me update you on my progress this evening...

- I have a 13" 2.4Ghz mid-2010 Unibody
- I bought the 160GB Intel X25-M (G2) from eBuyer last week (it came with firmware 02HD installed)
- I also bought Windows 7 Ultimate retail

I have tried about 10 times and finally thought I was getting somewhere ...

One quick thing to point out - I wasn't seeing any drives when I ran Win7 installer through Boot Camp when I had the 64bit disc in .. but when I tried again with the 32-bit it showed them first time. However, I wanted to install the 64-bit version of Win7 Ultimate, so I persisted with 64-bit

How to see the partition drives
I think the trick of:
- create the partition for Windows in Boot Camp
- allow BC to restart your Mac and boot into the Windows 7 install process
- When it doesn't find any drives, turn off your computer and reboot, but hold down the option key (or ALT+right) so it will boot into the disc

This has allowed me to see 4 drives:
Disk 0 Partition 1 / Total Size 200.0MB / Free Space 0.0MB / Primary
Disk 0 Partition 2 / Total Size 74.0 GB / Free Space 0.0MB / Primary
Disk 0 Unallocated Space / Total Size 128.0MB / Free Space 128.0MB
Disk 0 Partition 3: BOOTCAMP / Total Size 74.7GB / 74.7GB / Primary

(I had split my SSD into 2 'equal' sizes in Boot Camp of 74GB)

However when I selected the BOOTCAMP drive it gave me an error message ("Windows cannot be installed to Disk 0 Partition 3" - if I clicked on the error it said "Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows music be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS")

..so then I selected that BOOTCAMP drive and clicked on format. I then tried to install.

First try it went through the installing Windows dialogue
ie. the 5 steps that get green ticks alongside:
-Copying Windows files
-Expanding Windows Files (counts to 100%)
-Installing features
-Installing updates
-Completing installation

but then it rebooted and took me back to the install Windows screen.... (?).

Any ideas what to do from here. The MBP seems to be stuck in a loop of trying to install Win 7, and then when it seems to have done most of its thing, it says it needs to reboot - after which it tries to install again?
I tried taking the disc out and holding down the Option key, but it just boots into OSX

Edit: I tried again, but this time ejected the DVD quicker and then held down the option key. This allow me to choose between Mac OSX and Windows. However after selecting Windows it paused for 60 seconds then showed me a grey screen with a folder with a question mark on it.

I rebooted again and held down the Option key, choose Windows and this time it went on to do the next Windows install stage. I think I now have Windows 7 Ultimate and Mac OS X running on my 13" 2010 MBP with the Intel 160GB SSD
