Word of advice... backup before you start. 🙂

I was able to 'update' from 2.2.1 to 3.0 Beta 1 but I just got error 1611 during updating to Beta 2. That forced my phone into recovery mode and forced me to restore.

Luckily I did backup!

They would save that for a launch event, not a beta unfortunately.

I thought they said that adobe was developing a version of Flash for the iphone. Engadget and Macrumors both posted something like that........right? it was some time ago admittedly.

im not so sure. apple and adobe have been buddy buddy as of late.
and i think that there will be flash support, but maybe with special restrictions and limitations.

I just connected my first gen iPod Touch with itunes and I currently have 3.0. When I clicked check for update it says that 3.0 is the current update, and no new updates are available. I live in Canada, so Im not sure if I would have it yet. Anyone know how to fix this problem? When I updated to 3.0 everything worked fine, now iTunes says theres no new updates?

EDIT: I still cant get itunes to find a new update; what should the new firmware be ex 3.1?

beta updates aren't pushed by apple over itunes.
you have to download them from the apple iphone dev website.
assuming you're on a friends dev account or you paid for 3.0 access, talk to the person you got it from.

Just installed it without any problems as an update over my iPhone OS 3.0 Beta on an iPhone 3G. MMS and Tethering still works on German T-Mobile network as well as Skype calls over EDGE and 3G. There is a new menu item under Settings called "Store" that contains no data.

My thinking is that games and utilities made in Flash on the Internet are available for free. The same things in the App Store usually cost money. Who are we to say that Apple isn't just protecting their developers?

You need to log in to develop.apple.com, and download the new update through the iPhone SDK 3.0 Beta link.
