WRT to the empty Store menu - do you think this might just be used to store the iTMS credentials, as was mentioned in the keynote (IIRC)?

Basically to avoid typing in your password every time you buy through the iTunes App or in-app purchases.

Here ya go.

Does anyone else find it really interesting that it says just "Store" and not "App Store"... further hints at a expanded "Store" for unreleased devices...?

Thoughts?

I think it's good that your iPhone asks for your password. What happens your phone gets into the wrong hands and someone goes to town in the AppStore? I agree that options are better but it really is a necessary inconvenience.

I think you're right with the subscriptions, but what do you mean by single events? So basically this is to help manage purchases in the store and in apps.

But again, I raise the question, why not call it "App Store"? And why no icon? Just saying it doesn't completely make sense.

Flash isn't any more in conflict with the App Store than web apps are.

More likely, it is what Apple has said it was, some technical issues that make Flash a bear on the iPhone. As a sometime Flash developer myself, I know how easy it is to make a thread spin out in Flash, taking up all available CPU. That would be a killer on an iPhone. Now multiply it by however many Flash applets are on the typical web page.

Whle it would be nice to port some of the Flash stuff I've worked on to the iPhone, I wouldn't want that ability to come at the expense of usability and battery life.

It may come to the iPhone eventually, but they need to make sure it's iPhone-friendly, first. I don't mind the wait if it means a safe product to use in the end.

Hey, get back to the 3.0b2 discussion. What are people finding about it? I have my restore running right now.

Your thinking store as in "A place to buy stuff" whilst I was thinking "A place to put stuff" Hmmm. Predicament.

My thinking is that games and utilities made in Flash on the Internet are available for free. The same things in the App Store usually cost money. Who are we to say that Apple isn't just protecting their developers?

Flash is used 95% of the time for embedded videos, website navigation and/or animations, and advertisements.

Flash games are dependent on mouse and keyboards, neither of which iPhones have. Flash games are not optimal for the iPhone screen, even if it did have Flash.

Applications in the AppStore can do much, much, much, much more than what Flash elements can do it websites. Flash games and utilities can not access the hardware in ways that the AppStore apps can.

All the Flash plugin would do is:

1. Shut up a bunch of people who complain about the iPhone not having Flash.
2. Enable the viewing of embedded web content such as video players and audio players.
3. Enable the use of sites like www.vw.com that are nearly 100% Flash.
4. Show me animated ads.
5. Enable the playing of games which will prove to be unplayable when compared to playing them on computers.

To say that Flash would somehow cannibalize AppStore sales is true lunacy. You must be trolling.

can't get 3.0 beta 2 on my iphone

When I check for update on my itunes to get the new 3.0 beta 2, itunes tells me that my software is already up to date. How do I download the new software?(I am a registered developer)

Not a whole lot really, just that store menu. Other than that, everything does seem a lot quicker to load, notably maps seem to load more quickly along with voice notes. Although messaging still takes an age, but that seem to be a bit of a recurring theme!!

You get it where you go the first beta. You sign in to your ADC account and download it.

No Flash, so the Pre is a better device for Web Browsing. Too bad.

I wouldn't say that the lack of flash automatically makes the Pre better for browsing than the iPhone. Especially as the pre isn't even out yet!!

Same way as you did the first.

iPhone 3 isn't out yet, and no Flash has been confirmed and everyone else says fine.

Palm isn't out yet and Flash has been confirmed to be available and everyone else says not fine.

Maybe the 'Store' is a repository for files transferred over Bluetooth(added functionality required) and downloaded files, say from email attachments and web pages?
