Why is this so difficult for some people to understand? This is likely a mockup mold of the next iPhone, created solely for accessory manufacturers so that they can have the "true" dimensions of the phone without having a fully functional phone. This is so that they can test the fit of their accessories prior to launch so that they are ready on the same day as launch. Companies do this all the time.

This is not a shell of the iPhone minus the components.

I don't know if this is real or fake, but either way, I love it! If they make that exact same design with a black back, I'll be one happy apple customer. :)

In a House MD episode a while ago (Watched it 6th April, 08) I spotted the white iPhone and uploaded it to my server.

does auto focus not exist in the Netherlands?

Of course not, because then 99% of the fake photos pumped out onto the internet would look obviously fake, whereas when they are blurry they are almost believeable. Im going to say that these are real photos, since not only does it look real, it matches the other photos that have appeared else where, on top of the dimensions that have been circulating around.

And to the picture above my post, that is a case for the 1st gen iPhone, my friend has it.

To an outsider the MacBook Air looks like a Dell Inspiron circa 2004, only thinner.

Come on now!!! ha,now that is funny. The Air is the essence of new "hotness" you refer to.

I will say that I feel like the black MacBook fits the situation you describe in that, while it is a sleek nice feeling design, the black made it look like anyone else's laptop. (not to mention the horrific fingerprints). I bought one, and while the MacBook is a great laptop, it just never felt like a Mac laptop.

The Air, on the other hand, feels like you are using something special and is so well designed it is like a completely new laptop experience. Amazing piece of kit, as our friends across the pond might say.

I think this white iPhone look is quite nice, though they must offer black as an option as well. I am certain they would not release white only. And white is clearly the automotive color right now. The M3 and MB C63 are mostly seen in white for example.

Is there by any chance at all possible to fit a GPS chip and antenna into the new leaked photos of the iphone? It looks very thin to me...

I'm sure it's been stated, but the Apple logo is placed in a strange orientation (sideways?).

the logo looks fine. you see, it's the iPhone itself that is sideways in the picture, it's not standing upright.

and for people wondering why Apple would take the time to put the logo on there- have you not seen the cases that have a cutout or other design feature centered around the logo? Of course they would include it so case designers know precisely where it is and how big it is so they can make the designs accordingly.

Wow, people saying its really thin...what were you expecting?! It doesn't look that thin, just lie a normal iPhone width, which is quite fat may I add! It just seems like since people saw the cases from that other company, they think the phone will be the size of the actual case?! hmm

if this is a real prototype, they are screwed if it only comes in that color. I don't care what features the device has, that looks like a cheap price of crap. I really don't see how they could improve on the phones design without changing much from the origional. Personally, I love the aluminum finish on the first iPhone and I would feel cheated if apple realeases the next iPhone with a plastic type feel

Read ther link on zirconia, it can be any color.

It's a difficult one, on one hand Apple has made an open promise to be more "green", frankly using plastic on a device which is expected to ship in the millions is not very environmentally friendly.

On the other hand 3G signal strength can be severely effected by metal casings, so I've heard...

Ceramic (zirconia) is significately better for signals than aluminum.

amen brother!

This is not a case it would be the housing of the actual phone. Could be fake samples sent out by apple to satisfy peoples desires to keep the real design under wraps till WWDC. Who knows....

What ever happened to "GLASS AND ALUMINUM"????

Amen to that, brother! The last thing we need to see is such a high tech product made availabe in a bunch of fruity, magically delicious colors. Glass and aluminum evoke class and sophistication. If it ain't broke don't try n fix it! If you want your expensive phone to look like a toy then that's what 3rd party cases are for!!

It's really bothering me that I see a bigger border around the screen. Look at the sides. Looks like 1/4th inch vs. 1/8th or so of the current (it appears).

If Apple is using zirconia, the ceranic is a thicker material than aluminum/

you're right, it doesnt even have any innards, not a finished product. But the shape just doesnt seem like it would fit in one hand very well. Idk, I guess i'll have to wait and feel for myself before I make my judgments. It's silly to scrutinize at this point when it doesnt even officially exist yet :D

It exists ... we just haven't seen or held it yet. SJ will be holding one at WWDC.

Nope, its a none working iphone "shell", not a case. Which leads me to think it is real as this is the kind of thing that would be sent out to case manufactures.

Is it just me or is this whole thing dragging on to much...come on steve!

Dragging on? I believe WWDC is STILL scheduled for the same date it has been scheduled for all along. AND ... we all knew (or at least presumed, that this is when the new 3G phones would be announced. So ... NO ... its not dragging on. JMO

Come on now!!! ha,now that is funny. The Air is the essence of new "hotness" you refer to.
Form wise, yeah, but we were talking about color schemes... black keys on silver laptop is only the 'new hotness' if you've completely forgotten that this is exactly what the Dell Inspiron series looked like for years, not to mention the original Ti G4 PowerBook, the ASUS notebooks and many others. Silver and black has been a staple look in hitech design now for aeons and it's the least fresh and revolutionary color scheme imaginable, but because it's Apple, it's somehow suddenly perceived as the latest trend. Apple could make turd brown laptops and people would accept it as the fresh new color of the year. Apple could bring back PC beige and people would go "ooooh, what a tasteful deep sand color, this is so 2009, I gotta have one now!!!"

So you saw through it and recognized it for what it was - a plain black laptop, just like the zillions of IBM ThinkPads, stinky old Dells and the PB G3 circa 1999. But you belong to a minority. Because Apple stayed off black for many years, hammered in the image of the white MacBook and THEN made a black version, it was like "woah, what is this new color... it's so sexy and mysterious... thank you Apple for inventing this awesome color. We shall call it... black."

I think this white iPhone look is quite nice, though they must offer black as an option as well. I am certain they would not release white only.
I think they'll be bringing it out in at least two colors... Black, white and red sounds good to me. But for the love of all that is holy, please don't make a pink one for Paris Hilton and Richard Simmons.

And white is clearly the automotive color right now. The M3 and MB C63 are mostly seen in white for example.
Yup... and my candy white VW Golf GTI is arriving in a couple of weeks so white has better stay fresh this summer dammit!

The people that seem to always claim to get their hands on new technology before the rest of the world ALWAYS have the worst cameras...how is that possible? You'd think they'd have unreleased GOOD cameras too! haha.

Just meant that the 9th seems to be further and further away!

although I doubt it's physically possible due to the reality distortion field, it would be hilarious if Steve hops up on stage and whips this out and says "and we decided that aluminum just didn't work, so we've went with a revolutionary glossy plastic back instead"

then everyone in the audience boos him off stage over fears of going back to the days of fearing touching your device lest you scratch it

hahaha my thoughts exactly!
