It'll be so interesting to see what is the reality, come March. I, for one, am very interested in the "smaller" form factor, as my iPhone 5 (now pretty ancient as far as devices go) is beginning to have a few issues. I've passed on getting any thing in the 6 series, because of the larger size; just don't care for it, as it feels unwieldy in my hand.

Plus I'm assuming Apple will retain the 3.5 jack in the new phones in the 5 series. I like having the jack...

they still sell 16gb phones? with 1600mAh batteries? in 2016?

im amazed.
What's wrong with 1600 mAh battery ?
Are you judging Apple 's products with the android 's metric ?
My wife's iPhone 5S has great battery life, the battery is smaller than 1600 mAh and the A7 consumes more than an A9. So I'm expecting an even better battery life on this new iPhone.
But I know, android users like to buy specs list instead of real products....
Fortunately this isn't an android smartphone.

At least you can buy a 64 gb model if you want, but if it keeps 1 gb ram........
And exactly where you can find an A9 with 1 Gb of ram as of today?
Even the "cheap" iPad mini 4 uses an A8 with 2 Gb of ram.

I think this is getting messy. Though "SE" is better than "5 SE" I suppose. I think iPhone Mini would be the best name for it personally. But I also hope with the 7 series they release a 4, 4.7, and 5.5 at the same time. Maybe go with iPhone Mini, iPhone, and iPhone Plus. Make them share all the same features as close as possible. Then it becomes about choice again instead of being forced into the larger devices for the better features even if it's just one or two things different.

50% price cut? That sounds very un-Apple and desperate.

I certainly think Apple need to cut prices considerably of all their products, but 50% sounds too much.

As to the new 4", please offer 128GB, Apple; I want to fit all my photos onto my iPhone without having to download proper versions each time I look at them. Frankly, I'd like a 256GB version; then, I could fit much more music on and not worry about cellular costs. Samsung are offering 232GB (albeit with an SD card), and it's high time Apple offered similar capacity. Just think: it's, what, 15 years or so since Apple offered the 160GB iPod! Why are we still restricted to 128GB? It makes me so sad that Apple have crumbled in their storage support; if they really cared about music, they would offer good storage.

I think, but it's just subjective, that 128 and 256gb users are really residual, but the more options the better.

Still remember when "everybody" agreed that 4" was perfect and that the bigger Samsung phablets were just a stupid fad.....

Yep, still think there is some truth to that. But yet another person I know just got a 6s Plus and they also love it. They were replacing their 6 that took one too many drops without a case.

I don't believe the 50% price cut of iPhone 5S. Makes no sense, Apple will make losses from each 5S device sold as it costs them a lot to maintain those new customers at that price (I think so) and what would be the point of new iPhone 5SE or 6C or SE or whatever it is called? 5S and that new 4inch phone will be very similar and will confuse customers and I assure you Apple will never do that.

I've been an iPhone user since the 1st Gen. I guess I started paying attention to other products now more than I used to. They've come a long way and the gap between iPhone and Android is getting closer and closer each year. It's exciting either way!

Didn't stop them selling the 3G and 3GS side by side, or the 4 and 4S side by side or the 6 and 6S, or the Mini 1, 2 and 3 at the same time.

The 5SE will probably have a much better processor than the 5S, more ram, a better camera, apple pay, and the over improvements that come with the A9 (Always on siri, live photos). I would suspect possibly also better battery life through the A9 being more power efficient than the A7. The 5S is 3 year old technology, where as the majority of the 5SE will apparently be based off the 6S.

What typically happens is that the old model disappears from one day to the next, and three months later you can buy them as so-called "refurbished".

If the rumors about this device are true, Apple will sell a TON based on cost alone. It's the primary reason that they're releasing it now and not in the Fall with the new 7/+ lineup. Even though Apple is afraid of canabalising sales of its pending flagship models, they realize they must provide a new, modern and cost-effective iPhone to stay viable in BRIC nations and in other emerging markets. Smart move on Apple's part.

Yeah it's a way to boost sales for the quarter, gain market share in emerging markets like India and China. Apple playing chess while the rest are playing checkers.

That's fine, Apple has the iPhone 6 and 6+ for you. Lots of people LOVE normal sized screens and hate the 4.7inch and even larger monstrosities.

Having a top spec 4'' iPhone just released will be really refreshing, they look really beautiful to my eyes in that form factor. I mean top hardware specs, I don't care about 3d touch, it's useless.

I hope they offer a 128GB model. Many 64GB iPhone 5s owners want a new phone because they ran out of space on their 64GB devices.

If Tim Cook thinks that is cannibalization of the higher priced models, he's clueless as usual. First of all, iPhone sales are relatively very low right now. Second, why does Cook care if Apple is taking money that potentially could have gone to Apple?

Because if you buy a 600 usd iphone instead of an 850 usd iphone, then not all the money goes to Apple.

Why no 3D Touch? It is more useful on this small device because of reachability of every display position.
Why no 128GB with 4K video recording?

3D Touch takes up space which added size and weight to the 6S/6S+ and forced them to reduce the size of the battery. So it might not be practical for them to add it into a 4" phone.

Anyway, I really would like to know some useful situation for 3d touch. It's the most gimmick thing ever IMO. They could copy a pair of things from some recent android devices, like dual screen for always on representation of notifications and hour, and so on...

Yeah I don't see 3D Touch. 12 mp camera no ois, 5 mp ff camera. Upgraded Touch ID, a9, 2 gb ram, Apple Pay. $499.

I think this sets up for the upcoming iPhone 7 to be pretty significantly different to justify paying the premium.

Of course the A9 consumes less energy, it's a smaller lithography.

I'm using both, an "android phone" and an iPhone 5S for work with ActiveSync Push enabled. Both are good phones and get the job done. The "android phone" will get me through the day. easily. The 5S does not.

Assuming $450, on the 24 month 0% interest plans major carriers offer: $18.75/mo. Currently the lowest 6s is $27/mo.

Yes, this will sell well.

And for those people that say "it's only $8.25 difference"...that is significant for many many people. And especially significant for families with a couple of kids. Now you are talking $30+/mo savings, yet still getting the latest iPhone.

Don't believe ONE SECOND that this will happen, unless they stop selling it in the US (only sell it in India or something).
Kuo seems to be pulling this **** out of his ass: litterally.
wait - literally pulling as in he can't poo normally or literally sHt as in the story is literally made of faeces?
