I would have purchased the iPad 2017 if it supported USB 3, as I have a huge amount of data (apps, and music) and when I backup to the MacBook.

I really thought I'd be ordering an updated (faster with extra USB port) MacBook today. Sigh. I'll just keep trudging along with my old 2011 MBA. I can't believe that SIX YEARS later Apple still hasn't given me an upgrade option that appeals.

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And here are my top 3 reasons why:

1) Apple doesn't do anything with the larger screen. It's a big iphone.
2) No Apple Pencil support.
3) Lack of reason to upgrade. Old generation ipads still functional to browse the web and watch videos.

Wow that red iPhone is beautiful!

Agreed. But I suspect at this point, for those who owns iPhone 6/6s, and the 7 are all waiting for the next iPhone. As for price wise, I'd say go for the SE if you don't care about the bigger screen. Maybe if the red was available from the beginning.

I don't know why you bother coming on this website, you appear to be unhappy with everything Apple release/don't release/are rumoured to release.

For me personally, this seems a bargain. If there is a massive increased performance between this and my creaking iPad 3 count me in!

iPad Air 2, definitely - better screen (for glare, etc.) & lighter to hold. The A8X chip in Air 2 still easily handles any day-to-day tasks.
But the A9 will be supported longer by software updates, and you're talking about a difference of only 32 grams! That's about an ounce. They will never notice this weight difference in any real life usage. Getting a slightly less heavy case will make up the difference.

We have something for you and we can't wait to show you. Yeah it is an OLD ipad and now it is cheaper. YEAH GoDDIES.

That iPad is fabulous value. It'll definitely last a fair few years with that hardware. Yes there's no laminated display but as another poster pointed out, it means screen repairs will be much easier and cheaper if they're damaged.

Well I suppose that value depends on how often you plan on breaking your screen vs using your iPad around other lights...

I'd grab an Air 2 while you can for the less reflective benefit on every use over maybe saving money in the future.

Every time somebody writes it. I think of Borat. You never get this, You never get this :D Apple is so boring. I wish Steve would be alive.

That is my thinking too, longer support and cheaper screen replacements if she happens to drop it etc.

Got my order in for a RED 7 plus! Available for pickup today! Whoohooo!!! This is my first smartphone. I've had ipods and ipads but always talked on a cheap tracfone. I'm really looking forward to using the camera. :)

Enjoy, it looks great and as a first smartphone it will probably blow you away. Having a decent camera with you nearly all the time is a very great thing. :)

I can't decide, iPad Air 2 for $299, or iPad for $329 with a $25 gift card (both at Best Buy right now).

It's for my wife's grandmother. I'm not sure the weight or screen differences would even be noticeable to her. Right now she is borrowing my 4th gen iPad to see how she likes having one, and if she will use it.

Yeah, if she's an elderly woman, me thinks colour gamut is not a big deal. :)
I'd go with the new iPad over the iPad Air 2.

That said, wait a week and see what benchmarks bear out.
Of course, she'd probably not notice the speed differences either.

Apple says the new screen is better for colors etc, lamination means nothing for the screen its just makes the iPad thinner because of mounting it also its lots more expensive to replace the screen, and honest the anti-glare on the Pro would be better sold as a fingerprint attractant. I think its hilarious that people are arguing to get a less powerful processor with a smaller battery and WORSE color screen in an effort to get an iPad 0.05 inches thinner.

So, I've placed an order for the new iPad for my wife! Whee!!

From Singapore here! I was hoping we wouldn't have to wait for the later batches with the likes of countries like Russia and Turkey!

Just ordered two iPads for my boys...This will cut down arguing over the iPad. Whilst I would go for a Pro myself its overkill for my children. Cost was a massive influence plus managed to get education price. Very cheap iPads.
I suspect many will do the same.

Can't justify the price just for the color change from my current jet black 7+ 256gb.. and of course no black bezel front so I'll be waiting to see what Apple does at WWDC as far as software goes.

Agreed. Though I'm a little upset that there's no Air 3 to upgrade to, I think this fills in the gap for those who want a long lasting tablet for entertainment and education. Perhaps it's time to get my mother off her old iPad 2.

I think I'll end up getting the 128GB SE to replace my iPhone 6. It's already in stock at my local Apple Store so it should be a breeze. Then just wait for the bigger spec update of the SE (hopefully).

Literally every post he has made is anti-apple. I will never understand people that spend huge amounts of time on a company enthusiasts website just to bash the company. I have never been on any android or windows enthusiasts website to denigrate their products, because I don't care. Never. It just seems so weird to me that people spend so much of their time doing this. Oh well, to each his own.
