You shouldn't. Unless there's something specifically new, why would you? Other than a small niche group, the target audience for a new product is never people who still have something "new".

The Kindle Fire is forked Android. The e-reader is not Android and is a better reader than both the Fire and iBooks in my opinion.Kindle is, indeed, a great device, especially at its price point. Unfortunately, it's tightly locked into the Amazon ecosystem and runs on a heavily forked version of Android, which restricts overall user experience. Of course, no one ever accused Apple of being unrestrictive!
Relentless.. Apple has been going through a downward spiral. My dissatisfaction is echoed with many many users on this forum. From macbooks, to ipads, to watchbands, etc. I speak for many apple fans.
So i ask you to sincerely tell me a compelling reason why i need to upgrade my "new" ipad 3rd gen?
I'd go with the Air 2. It is the better product.I can't decide, iPad Air 2 for $299, or iPad for $329 with a $25 gift card (both at Best Buy right now).
It's for my wife's grandmother. I'm not sure the weight or screen differences would even be noticeable to her. Right now she is borrowing my 4th gen iPad to see how she likes having one, and if she will use it.
Agreed. At this price point, it will attract those who wanted an iPad, perhaps who couldn't afford or appreciate the features on the Pro line. And it gives The user the opportunity to be drawn into the ecosystem of Apple and further invest in other products if they so choose.
Excellent point about the reduced costs for the display, if it becomes damaged.
I really thought I'd be ordering an updated (faster with extra USB port) MacBook today. Sigh. I'll just keep trudging along with my old 2011 MBA. I can't believe that SIX YEARS later Apple still hasn't given me an upgrade option that appeals.
I think this is a smart move by Apple and will seal the iPad as the dominate tablet in the market. I see no reason to spend $200 on say a cheap android tablet, when you can now get into Apple's significantly better tablet app eco system, a full size 10" retina display, and a still fast A9 for $329 for which you could probably find sub-$300 at retailers in a few months.
Although, the test is going to be how the iPad Pro can take on the Surface Pro 4 and it's surprising well done Windows OEM clones on the high end productivity tablet market.
I bed you're a ball of fun at parties.
I think you vastly overestimate the number of Apple fans here relative to the total number of Apple product users worldwide, or the weight and relevancy of their opinions.
Yea, and those look as good as having a clear plastic cover on your expensive leather couch
Apple says the newlamination means nothing for the screen its just makes the iPad thinner because of mounting it also its lots more expensive to replace the screen, and honest the anti-glare on the Pro would be better sold as a fingerprint attractant. I think its hilarious that people are arguing to get a less powerful processor with a smaller battery and WORSE color screen in an effort to get an iPad 0.05 inches thinner.
Isn't a bubble a bad thing? So you are trying to say that the bubble I think Apple is in isn't as bad as I think it is? So it's a good thing?I think you vastly overestimate the stock bubble that apple is experiencing at the moment. Just wait my friend, just wait.
What? That's not the same thing.
That said, I will. I believe we are simply witnessing the start of Apple's ascent all the way to the top. .

Some retailers put the iPad pro for sale, the 128gb 9.7 is 599.00. I decided to take the dive and get one, not sure if it was the right choice being that I know a new one is just around the corner.
Right. That's not EXACTLY the same thing. However, I'll contend that putting a clear plastic cover on a phone is

i know someone who ordered the ipad and it is showing delivery dates of april 4-5th. that is not next week?!

It is you that's missing "the big picture".Isn't a bubble a bad thing? So you are trying to say that the bubble I think Apple is in isn't as bad as I think it is? So it's a good thing?
That said, I will. I believe we are simply witnessing the start of Apple's ascent all the way to the top. I feel that the people here whining and complaining about Apple simply don't see the big picture. When your entire premise revolves around Apple supposedly neglecting one line of products while ignoring everything else that Apple has done, you can't help but wonder just which side lacks perspective.
Which average users? Do you get bored with a hammer? Because all these are tools, pick the tool you want to use and gen argue the veracity online. That goes both ways.
My suggestion, leave the keyboard, and go into an Apple Store.
Most of the traffic is support/genius appointments , seems the average users are also bored and expect more .
Apples ascent to the top was with the iPhone 6. And I thought Apple park was Steve's idea.It is you that's missing "the big picture".
You're always so giddy about your iPads because they make your use cases so much better and that's totally ok, but just for you and similar users.
Do you not see the overall trend here? Higher prices, inferior versions of existing products, discontinued product-cannibalizers ? Apple is leveraging its walled garden more and more to drive profit for the lack of truly new revolutionary products.
It's not just one line of products, it's all of them.
Apple's ascent to the top happened long ago, now they're just doing loop de loops above the clouds. Any higher and the air gets too thin to support the massive craft they have built. Maybe if they'd built a spaceship ? ...oh wait...
That new building is a symbol of their circular closed garden inside of which TC & co can hide from the hordes of the walking dead-beats.
The big picture is that iPads will be the future of mobile computing for the mass consumers. People just don't see it yet. But I believe. It is you that's missing "the big picture".

Then don't buy the inferior versions of the products. The new iPad lacks a few bells and whistles but is also cheaper, so you can't say it's a strictly inferior product.Do you not see the overall trend here? Like I said. I don't find a closed ecosystem to be an inherently bad thing.Apple's ascent to the top happened long ago, now they're just doing loop de loops above the clouds. iPhone 6 was the ascent? Gee, you missed a few decades there mate.Apples ascent to the top was with the iPhone 6. And I thought Apple park was Steve's idea.
But thank goodness for truly innovative competition given your views on Apple. Eh?
The big picture is that iPads will be the future of mobile computing for the mass consumers. People just don't see it yet. But I believe.

Likewise, you make a walled garden sound like an inherently bad thing.
I know that with each additional Apple product I buy and Apple service that I sign on that I become more inexorably tied to the Apple ecosystem. But what I see, and have always sought, is an integrated computing solution which just works right out of the box. Till this day, Apple remains the only company who has done things the way I want them done, and so I will continue to give Apple my money.
Like I said. I don't find a closed ecosystem to be an inherently bad thing.
