The main issue with the AirPods was (a) garbage sound and (b) short battery life when listening to MUSIC (excl. charging case).

They changed EVERYTHING BUT the things that needed to be changed.

Way to go !!!!!

You may be less disappointed if you actually tried them before making a negative comment.

Yeah because it sucks not being able scuba diving with AirPods on.

There is no competition with Galaxy Buds except on price.

That makes sense because Galaxy Buds are worth exactly zero dollars.
Holy crap dude. Who hurt you this morning and where do we go to get revenge? Cheer up buttercup. It's going to be okay.

I am stoked for Gen 2! Wireless charging will be cool along with the other incremental improvements, but by far the most important enhancement is “Hey Siri” support.

Anyone who lives in a cold place that requires gloves knows why. It’s an absolute pain to remove gloves or fiddle with phone to change volume, songs, etc. Think about winter sports, skiing, etc.

Insta-buy.

I bought and returned the first Gen 3 times. I even had one set on launch day.

I have tried to love these but I can't get over carrying around the case in my pocket. Here I sit debating an order on these again. I love the idea of truly wireless, but hate carrying around the case.

Then truly wireless earbuds will never ever be for you.

They're not for me either, since I like to just throw my earbuds in my bag and get on my way. So I didn't get AirPods and probably never will.

I'll bet the sound is a little better, the connectivity much better, and the battery life estimates are very conservative to say the least.

Everyone that keeps whining about price, don't buy em'!

I always thought switching the AirPods from my iPhone to my Mac was cumbersome, good to see Apple addressed that. Can't justify an upgrade without a black option though. ;)

Has Apple ever done product refreshes / updates like this—no event, this many products, trickled out over a week? Off the top of my head, I can't think of any.

Maybe they’re Thinking Different.

Hopefully they keep their Think Different beanies on a bit longer return to larger and more discernible tapping areas (recognizable buttons beckoning to be tapped) in the iOS UIX and finally move on from the tiny-text-tap fad.

yea, they would have to make a rubber /in ear variant. But that might be problematic with the current charging case design.

Beyond the issues with the charging case, my guess is Apple sees the AirPods with its non-invasive outer ear design as part of the classic iPhone headset look and function. If you want a wireless headset that you have to stick into the ear canal, they have Beats versions to offer, or for more comfortable yet still sound isolating, there are the over the ears Beats (and Bose, Sony, etc.).

I've not used any of the Apple headsets for more than 5 years, having gone wireless, but I just pulled a set that came with my X out of my drawer to see if I would be ok with the sound of the AirPods and I'm surprised how ok they are. I already own ANC Plantronic BackBeat Pro 2's, which sound fantastic and are great for travel. But during a normal workday, I like to be able to hear the background, and can't stand any insertable headsets for more than a few minutes.

So I may just end up ordering a set or two of the new AirPods - my wife has been pining for a set for a while, so the timing is right.

Evidence customers are confused? The sales certainly don't indicate that.
Considering they were introduced today and there was no choice before their introduction, I'd say the sales don't indicate anything.

I do agree about the confusion though. No one is going to be confused by anything. Get 2nd gen AirPods, wireless case, or 2nd gen AirPods + wireless case. Anyone confused by that has bigger problems.

Why didn’t they launch these for Christmas last year? They probably would have gotten more sales that way.

I bought the 1st gen before Xmas for $115 at sams club. Because I ordered online they gave me $30
Off. Got it for $80......

The wireless case is $80.......

Aren’t the google headphones only $130 and have wireless charging?

Did they discontinue the 1st gen or will they just drop the price $20-30 bucks haha.

Cool. Bought 10. Guess we'll see if these go out of stock. Vets get 10% off. Combine with some other discounts for around 20% off total.

Is it me... or am I a bit disappointment tbh
Other than “hey siri” wireless charging, and 1 more hour of talk time. It’s not much of a change from the first generation. Not to mention space black or “matte” black color they were talking about. Think I’ll pass

I kind of like these no-event product launches.

But that chip name, come on Apple. H1? For fux sake, why not the W2? What's the point of using letters and numbers if you just keep changing the letter. Now we have the A-series for general processing, M-series for motion, S-series for watches, W series for audio, T-series for Mac peripherals, and H-series for audio but with Siri. It's getting crazy.
