Literally laughable. A product is released with updated internals for the same price as the first gen, plus an optional add on for wireless charging, and you still have people complaining about the price. People are insane.

As a first time buyer?? Sure!

But as far as an upgrade ( for me ) the internals are not a compelling enough reason to fork over my hard earned $199 AGAIN. I’m not complaining, just voting with my dollars.

At least make them water/sweat proof!

I’m interested to see if the new rumored Over The Ear Noise Cancelling Apple Headphones are going to be announced next week..

If they are you can expect a price between $400-$600 most likely. They'll probably be Bose or Sennheiser quality headphones.

You didn’t pay $199 to begin with, unless you got ripped off by someone charging above MSRP. You also don’t have to fork over $199 now, since Apple didn’t raise the prices. You have the option of paying exactly the same price for upgraded internals. If that isn’t enough for you, then I have no issue. But don’t be disingenuous regarding the price.

Also, although they aren’t marketed as sweatproff, I know tons of people who work out or run in AirPods all the time. I’ve played basketball in them, done manual labor in them, and definitely gotten them quite sweaty with no ill effects. I wouldn’t go swimming, obviously, but up to that point haven’t had any issues.

Yes! No price increase. Only question now is what to do with my old AirPods. It's unfortunate that you can't associate multiple AirPods to your account.

Blame your VAT tax -- almost 20%.

No I blame apple as only apple are charging above the odds on products

Not sure how anybody can defend £80 for just a charging case

There is no way. Apple will wait till these initial orders are well out of the return window before announcing a product that similar.

It would be great if Apple released these with sound isolation. The old ones Apple used to make with the silicone tips were among my favourite headsets.

pretty much you are now paying for apple holding features back in this case from the last generation and a added wireless charging case. So glad I made the decision to exit this ecosystem mostly.

I think you’re right, but they can’t even meet demand just with white.

And for the life of me, I can’t figure out what the bottleneck is. As a supply chain guy, it must drive Cook crazy that they haven’t been able to ramp up manufacturing enough to keep the damn things in stock. Really? It’s been over two years and they still can’t crank them out fast enough. They are reportedly up to 35 million/yr but somehow demand continually outruns supply.

If they ever get a handle on their production constraint(s), I’m sure we’ll see some additional colors. It’s one of the easiest ways to boost sales.
Yeah, that’s a good point. Absolutely love my AirPods. One of my favorite products honestly.

They support Bluetooth 5, which explains the connectivity improvements. Not sure why Apple didn’t highlight this.

Apple really isn't bringing it anymore im sorry these arnt the update we want and they won't release another one this year, all the rumours was wrong as usual they build up hype for nothing this isnt a update and this week has seen minor changes apple needs to start brining it hard, no colour options no Bluetooth 5 no better sound, sorry apple has lost the plot
They do support Bluetooth 5.

Do we know when these are actually going to hit stores? I already ordered mine but can't wait to hear impressions.

I am just happy they actually are upgraded, even if it is fairly minor. I have been holding out on buying new ones since the iPhone XS launch because I get less than an hour of listening time on my launch AirPods. I came close to buying new ones 3 times in December when Costco had them for $140...luckily they never had them in stock when I went to go buy them! I am happy waiting paid off with better battery life at the very least.
