I was thinking about this one.

No new iPhone SE till 2022. Try to understand it.

unless it’s a refreshed version of the 2020 SE then YES

But in all saying yes there won’t be a new SE Till 2020. Ross Young knows this because he had said it and he is accurate in this field. Mac Okatara is not a reliable source since Ross Young is not the only one which said a new bigger SE got delayed a year

My guess is the a new SE will be the SE plus. Not sure why this wasn't released last year and I don't know what chip it will get - either an A14 (along an updated 4.7" SE with A14) or an A13 (to keep it in line with the 4.7" SE).

I think that the iPhone 12 mini is Apple testing the water for a smaller phone with all-premium features. If it continues to sell poorly then I think it will be the blueprint for the true next-gen iPhone SE once the main iPhone changes form factor again.

I can't understand why the iPhone 12 mini didn't become the 'new' SE. It surely would've made more sense to sell a smaller phone as a budget product - especially in marketing terms.
I don't understand why they didn't make the 12 Mini a 12 Mini Pro instead. It would appeal (especially to women) as a prestigious, cute phone. But as just the 12 Mini, it is seen as the poor person's 12.

As for the SE, it has to remain an out of date form factor and screen to keep it as the cheap iPhone and not cut into sales of the 12.

So if they remove the stems, that would suggest that the force sensor would go away. Is it possible the tap to pause/play/etc feature would return?
I would imagine so although I have read on some sites that Apple filed a patent for earphones featuring "through-body input" – meaning they can detect actions such as touching your face and clicking your teeth.

They wouldn’t sell the iPhone 12 mini at $399. I think the lowest they would go is $499 and while still cheap, not cheap enough to compete with the cheapo Android handsets like the SE does. I’m not saying they CAN’T sell it at that price, they just won’t.

I have a mini and could quite happily have purchased the Pro Max or Pro without worrying about money so I don’t see it as a ‘poor persons iPhone’ at all. I see it as the premium iPhone in a small form factor with a couple of small compromises. The SE is the budget model and looks it.

find it absolutely ridiculous people want the iphone 12 mini to be the same price as an iphone SE. in no way does that or will that ever make sense. its a small phone so its less than its larger sisters just like the 12 pro and 12 pro max

the 12 mini might be the last small phone in a while and for those who have been begging for one for YEARS can just give in and get it since they wont let it go for another 5 years

I have the 12 pro and my wife has the mini. Both of us coming from a 7+. She loves the size of the mini and it suits her needs perfectly. Sometimes she borrows my phone as she wants that 'bit extra' for photographs. if a 12 pro mini was offered would have bought that instead.

Some people want the features of a 12 but don't wish the size. The mini fits that market and you may see sales increase. I wouldn't write the mini off yet.

I'm not writing it off, I hope it does well, choice is good, but the sales numbers that were reported on MacRumors aren't encouraging. And yep, sounds like your wife is agreeing with me and would rather have been able to get a 12 Mini Pro if it existed.

Out of curiousity, would you have bought a 12 Mini Pro instead if it was the same price hike between a 12 and 12 Pro?
