It is surprising that they’d upgrade iPhone SE again a year later. It still has the older design so it wouldn’t necessarily cannibalize sales of the other models, though upgrading it annually to include the latest silicon and potentially even camera makes it much more appealing.

I can't understand why the iPhone 12 mini didn't become the 'new' SE. It surely would've made more sense to sell a smaller phone as a budget product - especially in marketing terms.
I just can't stand the round cornered screen with the notch. Also I much prefer touch ID over face ID.

I have a company issued iPhone 11 pro but I find myself spend more time on my personal iPhone 7 Plus (a recent upgrade from iPhone 6, when my wife upgrade to iPhone 12 max).

I really like my APP so interested to see what they do to improve them, would consider upgrading. I have an iPhone 11, just because. I have no real interest in the latest phone for all I use it if the SE developed into a device that is all screen with no bezels for far less than I usually pay, that would be my next purchase.

Apple engineers: "how can we make the mic sound even worse than it already does?"

Intern: "take away the stem?"

Marketing: "genius!"

Ive been using the same iPhone every day, all day for over 6 years (on the original OS and battery). Ive got that mythical SE Plus squarely in my crosshairs. If it comes to be... finally I'll get a new phone

Is there any truth to the rumor that they're going to discontinue the "regular AirPods" form factor? I don't like the Pro-style earbuds that work like earplugs; I like the regular ones which just sit in the ear and don't go all the way in.

If they're going to be discontinued soon I may buy one last pair so I can keep using the design I like for a few more years at least, as my current pair has dying batteries.
I often fall asleep listening to music, and so just ordered a pair of AirPods 2 as they're more conducive to that usage than the Pros. I have a pair of Pros, which are great when they work well. They've been exchanged multiple times and I have a standing deal with an Apple Exec liaison to exchange the Pros for a new pair...even a next gen exchange. Hopefully the April 2021 timeframe is right.

Apple treats 5G as a premium feature. The iPhone 12 mini is low-cost 5G iPhone but not a low cost iPhone like the SE.
I wonder if the 12 Mini would have sold me more if it didn't have 5G and costed less.

Alot of people don't care about 5G yet anyways.

Until underscreen touch id becomes part of iPhone, Apple needs to move touchid to power button in order to create an edge to edge screen iPhone SE.

Just go the current AirPod Pros - and I have to say these really rock. One of the best Apple Products I got in (y)ears :)

So this could be the SE Plus rumoured in 2020. Perhaps it's been ready for a while and Q1/Q2 is a good time to boost phone sales?

Fingers crossed for LCD 🤞 and 1080p resolution. The only two things that will keep me in the Apple camp at this point.

If the iPhone SE Plus launches with a physical home button, that’s huge news. There’s a lot of users out there who want a larger phone, but at a more sensible price level with the physical home button for those who don’t want touch ID. I remember this was rumored at least over a year ago, and I have a feeling it’s about to come to fruition.

I think that would be a shame, they are vastly more successful than the same AirPods Pro, there should be an option on this front. Me I’m the opposite, can’t have the all-plastic been in contact with my ear (tried with the EarPods and never managed) and would hate for that model option to suddenly disappear.
Ideally both would continue to exist.

And here I just bought AirPods Pro a couple months ago. Argh! 😩

You will have the happiness/convenience of a nice pair for almost a year before the next version comes out. I made this mistake with MacBook Pro when the new version came out in 2016. I had saved up money but hated the dongle world and that stupid touch bar. 4 years later I still don’t have my own personal Mac because I kept waiting for the new one. Now I am waiting for M1X 16 inch MacBook Pro. If that isn’t good on paper then will wait for the second generation.

My guess is that next SE will be an XS (5.8 screen, w/regular notch, w/just 2 cameras) with other internals updated.

I thought Ming already went back on his prediction stating no new iPhone SE until 2022.

Which makes more sense now then when he first put it. iPhone 12 is selling much better than expected. You dont want to introduce a lower cost option now.

There are people out there who want a home button (i.e. what the Touch ID button is) but don't want a Touch ID button?

🤔
