There no iPhone XR in the pic, does that mean it won’t charge that either?

Obviously this picture isn't definitive proof of anything beyond it will work with the new AirPods and iPhones that support wireless charging.

But... The ability to charge your Apple Watch, iPhone, & AirPods at the same time, on a single mat, is a big deal. So, some of us are asking WHY it doesn't show that scenario. Sure, maybe you're right, and there haven't been any features removed.

BUT... maybe, this mat has been delayed for 2 years, and would continue to be delayed and instead Apple just abandoned the ability to charge 3 devices at the same time. As an owner of SSSB Apple Watch, I was never going to be able to use it that way anyway, my watch can't lay flat without removing the band. So whatever.

My prediction. $149, charges two devices.

Looks to me it can’t either charge an Apple Watch or only two devices at once. If so, might not release it at all. Even if priced lower. Useful wireless charging seems to be years away. Really disappointed Apple would announce something they weren’t sure would work!

Very possible, if not probable.

That, though, I cannot see. $149 minimum, possibly $199. Apple don't sell themselves short on any product and this will have a fair bit of engineering put into it.

You are probably right, I just don't see the value personally at $149. How are AirPod's basically the same cost as a charger, ya know? I get the engineering part, but just completely different types of products.

The odds of this costing $99 are about the same as a headphone jack returning in September.

$199 is closer to reality, maybe $149. But even at $199 it will lowly be sold out for months.

Why?

That's wild to me. $149 minimum for a charger. I'd rather buy some AirPod's.

I wouldn't worry about the Watch missing from the image. I really think that they would rather scrap the project dead than come out with a half baked product that can't charge everything because they couldn't figure out the watch. That is too embarrassing.

I just realized, never thought about that my sport loop is my most used band, and I would have to disconnect it from one end to charge on this thing. That's too bad, not as convenient for me anymore, lol.

I think the point is to be able to place any device in any position or orientation and have it charge. It's more of a convenience thing than an absolute necessity IMO.
Not trying to read too much into it but all devices on this photo are almost perfectly centered (in zones).

Hmm, if they take it down to just 2 devices then that’s ok, but if they don’t let you charge the watch and phone then it’s more or less pointless for me. I have my AirPods, but they rarely need charged that often

Does anyone here even own a sport-loop watch band? It takes less than a second to turn it inside out. No need to remove an end.

Lesson 101: How to get a population of buyers overwhelmingly interested in purchasing a charging mat device no one really needs.
• Courageously announce the device as an earth shattering product you can't live without
• Fail to deliver the device as promised for over a year
• Mysteriously go silent on reasons for why the device was never released
• Add source codes with imagery hinting at imminent device release
• Release the product to (now) overwhelmingly interested buyers

white, white, white, I'm long over the dingy look that always happens way too quickly. Great stuff, but I'll never buy it.

300 years from now: A photo of the upcoming AirPower was spotted charging the iPhone MCXXXII.
And Apple was bought by the Chinese brand (fill in the name) in 2022 and rescued from the brink due to years of lag in innovation, focus and losing it's connection with it's customers.

I seem to just like toys I don't use. Although I have a wireless charger in my house (it's my sons), I don't use it, I use a cord. I'd want one on my desk at work but the reality is my Xs Max gets such good battery life I have no need to charge at work. I stopped wearing my Apple Watch, so that's no biggie. As for AirPods, I plan to buy the new ones and will likely buy the wireless charging version but again, the cord is just as convenient for me and will surely charge faster. Not sure what the hype is other than it's cool to see new devices.
