I'm glad people here seem to think all this is a net positive for Apple... Because I'm afraid the new campus is a sign of all that is wrong with Apple.

1) It's an ungodly and completely unnecessary cost (with no tangible benefit)
2) The giant, communal workspace is disruptive and upsetting to employees. Could facilitate the leaving of crucial talent
3) People like Jony Ive dedicated a significant portion of their time and effort in the design and construction process, diverting attention away from the product line.
4) the migration of employees from Infinite 1 loop to here will result in a reduction of productivity spread out over months.

Making a pretty, round building isn't going to increase productivity or make more people want to work at Apple. It's cool though...
You can't ***** be serious. You're really grasping at straws to broadcast your narrative, huh?

Apple really should start jamming the drone frequencies to prevent flyovers at this point. They have employees working there. It has to be distracting as F to have the drones buzzing around. I also can't wait for someone to crash their drone into one of these massive glass windows and Apple send the owner a bill for whatever it costs to replace (it would be easy to trace considering drones have to be registered with the FAA now)... If a pane of glass on the NYC Apple Cube costs $450,000, I can't imagine what these giant panes of curved glass cost.

Did you read the whole article? Seems you didn't...
They write about inequality of today's Apple vs.80's Kodak and you talk about "envy".

Hope it was sarcasm.

I don't see the problem here? Where's the inequality?

So, honestly think I just pulled that link out of thin air and post it here without reading it? Obviously I read it, so don't assume things. Its a reminder of what it will take to keep the campus running at the end of the day. Most of the 12,000 FTE's are not gonna see Ms. Ramos when she is working from 6 pm to 2 am.

To be honest, I thought that second picture, the one of the Steve Jobs theater, was an artist rendition and not an actual picture.

Yeah it's much smaller from Civic center which has 7000 seats capacity. The Steve jobs theater has only 1000 seat capacity.

You would think (other than holding event at the new Apple Park), Apple would favor more seats over people unable to attend.

There is gonna be a big media frenzy when everyone moves anyway.

With just 1000 seats, looks like Apple isn’t going to be inviting all the little blog and vlog “media” people who have been at prior events.

I think of this as one massive monument. It's a eye-sore definitely .

Haha, I just hope that it's sunny on event day and not overcast and gloomy as seen in the photos. But thanks for sharing the images. They're still really cool!

I didn't know that.. but don't they have a bus shuttle for everyone?
No, they do not.

Like many larger tech firms, Apple does have employee shuttle buses, but there are a limited number of pickup places in the SF Bay Area. They won't pick you up at your front door.

It is up to the employee to secure transportation to the pickup location, otherwise they need to find some other way to get to the office (car, public transit, bike, etc.).

I don't think you realize how big the number 1,000 really is. :p

Are there 1,000 blogs and news websites? There may be 1,000 newspapers left in America... but most are tiny local papers and wouldn't be invited anyway.

Even if every blog/magazine/newspaper sent two people (a writer and a photographer) that's still 500 news outlets.

And I still think that number is too high.

I just searched for the Top 100 News Sites. But by #20... it starts getting into local newspapers and TV channels. I don't think a random news channel from Anytown USA gets invited to Apple events.

Hell... even if all 100 of those news outlets somehow did get invited... that's still only 100 people (or 200 if they send a writer and photographer)

I understand your concern... 1,000 seats is definitely smaller than the 7,000 seats at Moscone Center.

But I still don't think there are anywhere close to 1,000 news organizations or bloggers or YouTubers that get invited to these events anyway... even when they're held at larger venues like Moscone or Bill Graham.

I'm guessing there will be representatives from the dozen or so major TV networks and news channels... the dozen or so major news publications... and yes... a handful of major "bloggers and vloggers"

But that's still a fraction of the 1,000 seats.

Basically... I think you're over-estimating the number of media people who get invited to these events. :)

The vloggers would be iJustine, MKBHD, maybe Austin Evans... but who else?

I'm struggling to come up with 50 vloggers who would be invited... let alone hundreds.
