Is there an underground tunnel connecting the theater to Apple Park? Or is the theater a complete separate building in its own?
There is a loading ramp and tunnel leading to the back of the auditorium (look at page 18 here). Whether that just leads to the street level on the eastern edge of the campus or whether it has an underground connection to the visitors' centre at the eastern edge of the main building, I am not sure.

Every time I see this massive complex I think, "I sure hope the iPhone keeps selling well". The up-front cost is understandably enormous, but the ongoing expense to keep it functioning is absolutely massive.
At least they save on energy costs with 100% renewable energy. Maintenance and cleaning will be a bit though.

While it is likely that we will never know for certain, my guess is that there will be at least two tunnels between the theater and the main building, at least one of which will be reserved as an emergency exit (both directions) and will be alarmed at all times.

If you go back to the first fly overs you'll see there is no tunnels between the two. There is a back stage entry ramp which trucks can drive down. I'm sure this is also an emergency exit as well as a few other emergency stairwells & elevator that are near the glass lobby.

I'm pleased how my 300% overpriced iPhone 6S money is put to use (I'm in Europe and paid over $1000 including Apple Care). Now also spend some money to stop advertisement for animal foods pls.

Dude, if you think europe's model is overprice, check brazillian's one, ha!

Not to Take Too Much of a Poke at Apple, But I Really do Hope That Their Facilities or third-party Repairable lol. I Hope They Take a Learning Lesson if it is And Put That Kind of Option Back Into The Mac or You Can Upgrade a Little Bit do at least maintenance to Keep The Fans Them Self Clean Because There is Dust Buildup That Leads to system Failures Ultimately Because of Overheating And or Short circuiting Based on The Amount of Heat That Builds up. This is just an Apple Problem This Happens Across Anything With the Fan I’ve Opened my MacBook Air You Will be Amazed at The Dust Buildup on The Fans. I do Preventative Maintenance on Mine And it Runs Like a Charm a PlayStation Four around also Had Severe Dust Buildup But I Had to Break The Seal to Get in to Clean it. Luckily The Newer System Does Not Have a Problem And You’re Able to Clean The Fan as it is a Very Serious Problem With Technology is that The Offense All Those Microsoft Services as Much as I Can Respect What They Are Man I Feel Bad on Those Fans Get Built up With dust And Nothing Burns Out I’m Just Saying. Most Likely be a thing That Happens After Their coverage. If They Have an Extended Warranty of Three Years or Whatever But it is Something to Consider People I Can’t Stress Enough if You And Actively Keep Your System Clean Inside as You do Outside at Least Every Six Months Your System Will be Fine. I Just Think That Apple Should Allow You to Clean Your Fan to Clean The Dust Off Your Board Once Your Computers out of Wanting Something You Know Where doesn’t Void And Cause You Issues in The Future Type a Deal

Lolz. What an awesome rant. You segued into its very nicely.

Less massive than renting the same space all over the valley, which they already are.

Building something like that if anything could be a money saver in the long run.

Also, Jobs and the people at Apple conceived this building when they were 1/5 the size they are now (in 2009-2010), if anything this building is UNDERSIZED for Apple's current size and ambition.

Sorry, but it's not overpriced if you actually agreed to pay the price. It's just "heavily marked up". : )

Edit: killed an accidental emoji. Does anyone know a way to avoid conversion of Good Old ASCII Smileys into Retarded Emoji?

I think that naming it the Steve Jobs Building would tie it permanently to the past. This way there's a sense that Apple can be great without Jobs.

I still think it's weird that the small theater and not the main, massive, "beautiful" (in his words) building gets named after the man who built and then rebuilt the company. Next to that impressive toroid, the theater is an also-ran. It should be the Steve Jobs Building, full stop.

Is it overpriced?

I'd argue it's a complete bargain compared to any Android flagship. I've checked just today the resale value of my 6S+ because a friend keeps asking for it, and it's just shy of €600. I've bought it on day one and it only depreciated 30% in one and a half years.

Apple stuff is very fairly priced when TCO is considered, everything else is way overpriced for the quality you actually get.
I am glad to see someone that gets it.

Thank you...couldn't have said it better.

I do hoper that discovery have made a film of this being made. But knowing Apple I doubt it.
We don't have many massive round buildings built these days.

I wonder how much of its power will come from all those solar panels? Love seeing the roof covered in them.

This has got to be exciting for all the employees. I had a dream about showing up for the first day at the ring, and being gobsmacked with the enormity of the endeavor.

But in reality, I was employed at a company that went through a long and arduous re-engineering of their work environment, and remember the day that we all showed up to 'claim our space'. Walking around and seeing it all completed was an awesome experience. All the thought that went into the areas for the different groups, and where everything was going to end up. It took a few weeks for the monotony to return, but the time until that happened was amazing. Also amazing was how many people started sniping about who had the better office/view/table/etc.

*sigh*

there's no doubt its a fully realized version of Steve's vision...but with that many people converging on one place, at the same time everyday, I wouldn't want anything to do with the morning commute.

True story or your dream?

Ain't people funny. They don't give a **** about your fancy building, what you call your theatres, what your strategy is, what's keeping the CEO up at night, and so on. They only care about what's important to them. There is something there for leaders to take away. But I don't know what it is. Lolz.

why does it feel like they've been building this place for ten years. wake me up when its finished. Ill be 62 by then

No one would ever bother to call it the "Jobs Building". In contrast, people will be constantly instructed to go to the "Jobs Theater."

It must have been worth it to you.

Jobs was at his best on stage. And that's how he will be most remembered. It's totallly appropriate to name the theatre after him. It's also been said that he asked not to name the new campus after him.

The theatre will be what most of the general public interacts with anyway. Very few non-Apple employees are going to be frequenting the main building. However, thousands of external people will be attending keynotes in the Steve Jobs Theater every year.

That said, the theatre is way bigger than you're giving it credit for. Here it is under construction.
I get all that, and it's true. If you have a source for his preference not to have the building named after him, I'd be interested. I'm also aware that the theater is much bigger than the above ground structure.

It just feels to me that naming anything other then the most iconic building after Steve Jobs understates his role as synonymous with the company he built. Kind of like naming the famous Chicago skyscraper The 33 South Wacker Drive Building, and the lobby after Sears (or Willis). I'm sure I'm being sentimental.

It's next to a freeway, the parking garage entrance is right off the freeway, and there used to be a big HP campus just there. Don't think it will be that bad.

The Steve Jobs Theater is a beautiful piece of architecture. Are there any drawings or artists impressions of the levels below ground?

Where do most of the employees live? I don't know how anyone can afford to live anywhere close to campus.

The first short paragraph was my dream, and the second longer paragraph was my experience.

The department went through 'empowerment training', and had an agreement with management that the 'teams' would have 'power', only to have it yanked away from the team I was on so that management could install a person they wanted for an opening. Yeah, there was a 'message'. The more things change, the more they stay the same. I didn't expect the halcyon days of the grand opening to last forever, but I was surprised how short the honeymoon was. But the 'office politics', you could cut with a knife. Case in point, pre-remodel I got an office with a window, and had to have a cubicle wall put up to block it so that I couldn't look out of it from my desk. Really... I had to give up reading Dilbert because one of his episodes was nearly the same thing... When the nutty BS hits that close to home, you gotta stop...

Engineers and many others that work there are paid 120K and up (many over 160K), then can afford it.

It is the support staff that cannot live near there, they'll live way down the valley or 60+ miles away towards the central valley.
