I think a lot of negativity comes from it being an inferior product even to the first generation Pencil.
Inferior is relative. If it does what you need at a cheaper price point it is a superior product. Value depends on the user case.

This sounds exactly like the Apple Pencil knockoffs on Amazon for $20. I have one and it works great.

Magnetic attachment + tilt sensitivity, USB-C charging, no wireless charging or pressure sensitivity. The only advantage over those that I can see is the sleep mode when attached and hover. 4x the price.

Umm... It doesn't respond to pressure. So this definitely isn't for artists. I'm guessing this is just for note takers. Here's the graph
it's weird it supports tilt but no pressure sensitivity. I guess its more of a marketing limitation than a technology one. Heck, I would even be willing to bet it can physically support pressure sensitivity but is disabled in the firmware to get artists to cough up the big bucks.

Great, another compromised product. I’m getting so tired of this sh*t. Steve and Jony would never!

Like I said, goofy juice. This pencil will hold magnetically to newer ipads, but doesn't have pressure sensitivity. And won’t charge magnetically. This pencil seems to exist just to piss of artists.
then they just buy the more expensive version.

This exists for students note taking who have no interest in pressure sensitivity or touch controls to change tools.

Its been made down to a price point.

Its the HomePod mini of apple pencils.

I think many people don’t want to try to find one on Amazon that works by wading through reviews that either say ”great” or “it sucks.”
Paying a little bit extra to avoid the hassle is worth it to many people. Others saving a few Euros is worth it. To each their own.
Except that:
- they ALL work, even the $15 ones, as they are all based on the Logitech Crayon technology (that this Apple pencil is based on too) since 2018, we are not talking Airpods clones here, that's a totally different story...
- your are not saving a few euros, you are literally paying 5 times less...

Hover but no tilt like for 1st and 2d gen?
What the hell is the logic here
The logic is pretty simple...

It has both hover and tilt.

I feel you are confusing superior with sufficient.

Hardly. Extra features that are unnecessary that do not add value to a user do not make one product superior to the other; in such cases such a product is an inferior one.

If feature sets decided superiority, the MBA would be inferior to the MBP, the iPhone to the iPhone Pro and the Pro to the Pro Max, for example.

Superiority is decided by the user based on their needs.

Except that:
- they ALL work, even the $15 ones, as they are all based on the Logitech Crayon technology

Based on and working well are two different things. Judging by some reviews the clones quality vary greatly. Everyone has their own preferences and what determines value beyond price.

- your are not saving a few euros, you are literally paying 5 times less...

If price is your determining factor order from China as it is cheapest.

I have tried several of them and they all work exactly the same in terms of writing and drawing, the only difference is in other features like charging (USB C or magnetic), short or long press to turn them on etc, weight and shape (although they virtually all look like pencil 2).
Again people ignore that these use the exact same technology like the Logitech crayon, fullstop.
The only ones that don't work the same are the passive / semi-passive ones, the ones that "work" with other tablets too, those are garbage.
As for "price is your determining factor", I could say the same for a drug vs its generic counterpart, some people feel safer using the original drug and pay more, but the generic one works exactly the same.

This seems slicker then the gen 1 and its protruding lightning plug, and it’s cheaper to boot, why the negativity?
Probably because you can buy this for $14 and it’s literally better than the garbage Apple just released today. I actually own this and I’ve owned Apple Pencil 2. The key difference is that the clone has magnetic charging and Apples new abomination doesnt. https://a.co/d/0wzbqhT
