They say this new one still needs or can be paired, not sure why that would be needed? The Logitech Crayon doesn't need to be paired.
Yes. This was clearly designed for the 10th gen iPad.Is this compatible with the iPad (10th generation)? If so, this is perfect for my girlfriend. The new iPad has USB-C. I bought her that iPad and wasn't going to get her the Lightning Apple Pencil. If this new pencil is compatible, then she'll be able to charge it with the USB-C port on her iPad.
Or the Pencil 3 Ultrajust wait for the Pencil 3 Pro.
It's not a clean upgrade for that, either. It removes pressure sensitivity. So this is the new "lower price pencil that replace the gen 1
Nice upgrade

Hover but no tilt like for 1st and 2d gen?
What the hell is the logic here

It is probably because they intend on axing the Apple Pencil (Lightning) in a year or less and they do have an Apple Pencil Pro in the works. This USB-C option consciously carved out a niche below the premium option. I imagine the new one may cost more than what it replaces.Naming naming NAMING!
Why do we have:
Surely you simplify it to something like
- Apple Pencil (2nd generation)
- Apple Pencil (USB-C)
- Apple Pencil (1st generation)
1st and 2nd generation are so confusing if there's USB-C?!
- Apple Pencil Pro/Ultra/Max (or something that makes it higher tier)
- Apple Pencil (USB-C)
- Apple Pencil (Lightning)
This is a perfect Christmas gift for her! I'm glad they released this product. It seemed odd that the pencil compatible with a USB-C iPad used Lightning.Yes. This was clearly designed for the 10th gen iPad.
Crazy to think that they are keeping the Apple Pencil (1st Generation) and at the same $99 price to boot! Which sane person wants to pay $20 extra to continue charging their pencil with a lightning-USB C adapter and no magnetic attachment just to have pressure sensitivity?
Can we talk about the PRICE CUT without a reduction of functionality or selling the last-gen version??
EDIT: Take that back, it lacks a number of features of the 2nd gen. Seemed to good to be true for Apple.
Pencil 2 isn't lightning.nobody wants to be seen with a lightning device anymore.
wait for the Pencil 3 Pro with USB-C.
How dumb that it wouldn’t at least have parity with the 1st gen (and they should be the same price).View attachment 2297089So it has less features than the others two...
