I don't really see the point in this .... Just go to an Apple store, take your 5s with you and compare.

Google would be quicker than getting a snail mail.

Paying celebrities to tell me to buy stuff is so lame. I almost don't want to buy a 6+ now...

They can't really put an ad for a feature that isn't ready yet. Like health kit or payments

Actually they can. I've unfortunately learned a lot about false advertisement law. They can list it if it is in the process of coming and they have the intent of it being provided. It's when they have no intent of providing it that it becomes false advertising. A really poorly written law Federally. Some states may have tighter laws.

This is a really sneaky ad, in that the iPhone 5s shown is a model with white borders around the screen, while the 6 and 6 Plus are shown as models (space grey) with black borders around the screen. Pictured this way, the black borders tend to visually blend in with the screen, which is shown as all black with a flower in the middle, with the visual result that the 6 and 6 plus screens appear to be even larger than the 5s screen than they actually are.

For sure, Apple has been dramatically behind the customer demand curve in offering larger screens, with arrogant statements claiming that their formerly smaller screens were the only size needed as they were perfect size for one's hand, but now that they are offering larger screens the ad agency has gone with visual trickery in the comparison photos.

That being said, it's about time that Apple offered larger screens. Hopefully in the future the company won't take so long to get in touch with customer desires.

Possibly the most true to life advert apple has ever produced. You can really see it bend. Expereince the bending power of iphone just like you would in real life. It's such a break through in advertising. An add that reflects the product. Amazing

the white iPhone 5S isn't part of the ad.

I wonder if there's any chance of a smaller bezel on the 6s+. There's just so much unnecessary space on the top and bottom.

The 6s and 6s+ will have exactly the same form factor. I'm willing to bet one year's salary on that.

Please be joking. Please. Or do you really not realize that the 5S on that picture is not part of the ad?

Apple's bezels are iconic and I don't see that changing any time soon.

You can't really get a feel for something unless you hold it for yourself.

I think the main purpose of this ad is to tell people that the iPhone is now available in different sizes. This is a first for the iPhone... and I think it illustrates that point well.

If I came across this ad in a magazine... I'd certainly set my iPhone next to them to see how they compare on paper.

Of course it's not a replacement for going to the store and trying them out in person. But it's a good first step... and then you go to the store.

Let's be honest... magazine ads can't really do much anyway. Have you ever seen a car ad in a magazine? What are you supposed to do... test drive a sheet of paper? :D

No... it's just for information. And then you go to the dealer and see the car for real.

The same is true for almost any type of product. How much can you learn about this TV from just seeing it in a magazine?

It is if you own one. Thats the point isn't it. To place yours next to the pic.

There's quite a famous picture that was published in a newspaper of Muhammed Ali's clenched fist, printed life-size.

The first thing every man does upon seeing it is overlay his own fist to see how it compares.

The life-size comparison works really well in advertising.

What is it with those idiotic references to the size of privates and what girls "dig"? Add some talk of pickup lines to it and we've got SpearheadRumors.com. Grow the hell up.

As for the ad, it's practical yet dull. Apple ads are a bit hit or miss anyway, IMO. They have great ones (Misunderstood and the Stickers ad come to mind immediately) and they have some really, really bad ones too. (The ones that aired when Siri was new were, well, meh IMO.) This is one of those miss ads, but hey. It's a print magazine ad so the naff ad kind of fits.

I really like the new wallpapers with the item in the middle, but they look **** with icons on the home screen and two different wallpapers don't really merge into each other well

did any of you who got he 6 plus return it for the 6? i played with it at the apple store....and it seems a bit big

I changed my mind after a 1 hour hands on with both models at the Apple Store . Glad I didn't pre-order or stand in line. The 4.7" feels just right; not too big and not too small. Managed to snag a 128GB model at the Verizon store 30 minutes before closing.
Apple should have had units in store a day or two after the announcement for people to try out first. That would have cut down on the return/exchange rate. People would have formed a logical opinion on which one to get.

Ironically you're still making a decision based on actions from their marketing department. How about simply buying something that works for you instead of getting all wound up on how they market it?

The bend jokes aren't funny or original or even true unless your a moron that doesnt know the law of physics and know that metal can bend. I am sick of every single apple product that gets released gets so much news coverage about a problem that 1% or less of the dumb american population has a problem with. Its pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that to bend this would take serious force that most of us normal people will not inflict upon it or if we would know the force in our pockets is too much just by feeling how tight it is in there. Ok thats all I'm saying, I'm just glad I'm not as dumb or irresponsible as some people.

You are a manufacturer of a product.
You know the customers you are aiming at.
You know how many customers use your products.
You have every opportunity to test out any new designs in any environments and situations you like.

Question:

Do you make a product, suitable for your targeted customers that will be suitable for them to use in the way and scenarios you full well know about.

Or

Do you make a product that is not suitable for the customers you know you have and the way in which you know it will be used, and just put a "oh and be careful" sticker on in ?
