Curious for an Apple news site... one that I frequently read, that there isn't an article about the bending problem of the iPhone 6 Plus.

You registered in the forum today and its your first comment. You are a troll!

I wonder if there's any chance of a smaller bezel on the 6s+. There's just so much unnecessary space on the top and bottom.

I imagine it'll look the same.

Without changing the home button (which is the kind of "iconic" design element of the phone), they can't really remove much space. If anything, losing the bezel on the size, and making the screen edge-to-edge will make more difference IMO.

I like my 6+, but it would be easier to hold if it didn't have the extra couple of mm on each side of the screen.

They should have showed off the screen bending feature. That way you can make it curve to fit your face. That is, if you're one of the barbarians that still hold a brick up to your face to talk to people.

did any of you who got he 6 plus return it for the 6? i played with it at the apple store....and it seems a bit big

Since I still haven't received my Plus, I'm going to go check them out at the AT&T store today. If it's too big, I'll cancel it. I'm thinking I'll just stick to my 5s if I cancel and see how the 6s (or whatever they call it) works out.

You can't really get a feel for something unless you hold it for yourself. I had printouts of the Plus that were "actual size" but a piece of paper only gets you so far.

I held the 6+ in my hand... it's WAY too big.

IMHO, even the 6 is too big... the 5s is a good size.

Tried the 6 and 6 Plus. It'll be the 6 when the time comes - the Plus is too big. The 6 seems to be in the sweet spot size-wise. Sufficiently larger than the 5 but not monstrous, the 6 is as large as I'd want a phone to be - any larger, like the Plus, and it starts looking more like a tablet. IMO, obviously.

It's unlikely that Apple will significantly change the bezels anytime soon.

Big Driver: The Touch ID button. It is large and round to allow you to scan your fingerprint from any orientation without swiping. The narrow "swipe" style buttons on competing devices that allow for smaller bottom bezels don't allow this; speak to anyone who owns one and you'll learn the experience is often so frustrating that they get disabled. Apple also will not put this button on the back (imagine having to pick your phone up off the desk every time you wanted to unlock it).

Secondary Driver: You need a bezel on left/right (in landscape orientation) so you can securely hold the device. Make it much smaller like some other phones out there and it'll look great, but you end up either A) dropping it more frequently or B) constantly touching the touch screen when you don't want to, interfering with whatever you're trying to watch or control.

I would love a thinner bezel at the top and bottom, particularly on the 6 Plus since it's so much taller than its competitors. But it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

It's kind of annoying to me they're focusing so much on "OMG IT'S BIG" in their marketing. I thought they'd try and barely mention it like it's no big deal. They're making it out like it's something that hasn't been around for years.

Give the people what they want. People have been crying for large iPhones, and that's exactly what Apple is serving up.

What time is it?

Classic 9:41AM displayed in the ad... Interesting that the 40 min mark landed on Apple Pay this year, followed shortly after by Apple Watch.

Here are my thoughts on the 6/6 Plus:

The 6 is an amazing size. I don't think it's "too big" at all, and after playing with it in the store I find that I cannot stand by 5s. The screen is just too small, too confining. I can almost describe it as a dooming sense of claustrophobia. I think this is the perfect phone size.

The 6 Plus doesn't feel as big as you would expect it to feel, because of that amazing design and thinness. It is narrower than a typical phablet, but is also significantly taller because of those top/bottom bezels (which probably won't change significantly anytime soon). Other thoughts:

I've spent about 4 hours playing with both models in the Apple Store. At first, I thought the 6 Plus was awkward, that it would fall out of my hands more often, and that it was very awkward to use with one hand. As I continued to get used to it, I realized that for some reason using it left-handed was much easier. This is fine with me; although I'm right-handed I carry it in my left front pocket, so using it left-handed works well. The big problem is navigating forward and back in Safari, but then I realized that you can swipe in from the sides of the screen to navigate forward/back. Since I'm usually going back, and since I'm holding it left-handed, that works beautifully. The screen gives you about 3/4" more viewing height if you compare the same website on both phones, which doesn't seem like a lot but in practical use it does seem to make a big difference.

Yes, I did say front pants pocket. I always wear casual dress pants/shorts, so that really doesn't seem to be the problem I thought it would. Yes, if you stretch your pants tight you can see the outline. And yes, I can see that in some circumstances when bending down or sitting you may need to shift the phone a bit.

In regards to the bending issue: It is a large, aluminum phone. If you put it in your back pocket and sit on it, or perhaps even a tight front pocket, it may bend. I think this is unlikely to happen based on the pants I wear, but I can't say it's impossible. The phone did feel very dimensionally-stable in the store, and a competing Mac news site has a video of a guy applying significant force to the phone to bend it. If you're concerned, get a 6.

I'm 6' 1" and have sizable hands, so it doesn't look crazy huge when I'm using it (even as a phone, holding it against my head).

I do not recommend this phone for people with smaller hands unless you're SURE you won't use it single-handed. Spend 4 hours in an Apple Store and you'll see the 6 Plus dropped on the desk more frequently by those with smaller hands.

The only remaining question I have before I buy is how big the phone feels in the pocket when it's in a case. I always use the Apple cases, so hopefully I can check this out in-store somewhere. Side note: After a year in my pocket, I took my 5S out of its Apple Leather case for the very first time last night and I am amazed to see that it is absolutely flawless. I could put this phone in the original box and sell it for new. I am shocked!

BTW, I would also recommend AppleCare for the 6 Plus.

PDF of 'Actual Sizes'?

Can someone either make an accurate size scan of the advert so it can be printed off and used to compare device sizes? It would be far more helpful, I feel.

This is the same comment that was said when the iPhone 5 was released, by the iPhone 4 is the perfect size crowd.

I think this new form factors will not be an issue in a few months just like when the increased the sizes for for the iPhone 5.

I think the 6+ will never be accepted by everyone because for some people, mostly those with smaller hands, it just isn't reasonable. If I didn't have bigger hands my 6+ would be a ridiculous thing for me to buy. Most should be able to accept the 4.7" 6 though. Part of me sees Apple meeting in the middle and going with one 5" phone next go round. Really the bezels on top and bottom are what kill the size. A 5.7" Note for example is a smaller phone because it has less bezel.

You said earlier "If your screen shot is 2208 x 1242 that's how many pixels the screen should have!"

Yet you want a 1920x1080 display to show 2208x1242. Do the math, not possible.

What I meant was: in my mind, if the screen is physically 1920 x 1080 then a screenshot should generate an image file that is 1920 x 1080.

Weren't they working on a bendy phone, maybe this is it.

The 6g for gumby phone.

Uh, it's not reasonable to think any size phone will be accepted by everyone because everyone does not have the same size hands.
