How about Omaha! Its right in the middle of the country after all, and the nearest Apple store is all the way up in Minneapolis.

I know there is no way in heck one will come here soon, but one can hope....

I thought I rember some discussion about a new store in Omaha, but couldn't find anything.

This is the only mention so far by Sayhey.

Last, here is the list of top 20 US metro areas and consolidated metro areas without Apple stores. This is based on the 2000 census and leaves out San Juan, Puerto Rico.
Norfolk/Virginia Beach, Virginia

Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina
Providence, Rhode Island
Louisville, Kentucky
Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina
Dayton, Ohio
Fresno, California
Birmingham, Alabama
Tulsa, Oklahoma

Albuquerque, New Mexico
Knoxville, Tennessee
El Paso, Texas
Bakersfield, California

Agreed. We need at least 2 in western Canada, 1 in the mid provinces and 4 in the east.

Just got back from the grand opening of the St. Johns Apple Store in Jacksonville. I was worried Jacksonville wouldn't show up, but by ten there was over 150 people in line.:D I was #7.Anyway the store is great, I'm so glad to have one here in town. I did notice the floor was a gray tile and they only had one eMac on display. Now I've got to go to bed - I work at night and have been up since 3pm yesterday.

Size of Braintree Store

wdlove said:
Thank you for thinking of me Sahey. ;)

Most of the Disney stores that I've seen are a large size. If both spaces are large, just wondering if that could mean a larger than normal store. An actual theater would be nice, reality tells me that I'm probably dreaming.

It looks like it will be quite a big store. The storefront spans the length of what an "Old Navy" storefont usually does, and those are generally pretty large stores. I will snap a pic the next time I'm there...if I can find my camera that is :)

I look forward to seeing your picture JenL. ;) Any information posted on the storefront cover?

JenL was posting a description of the Apple Storefront at the South Shore Plaza. We are definitely getting closer. I'm looking forward to this also.

i seem to remember once upon a time that edmonton was getting one... maybe I'm just disillusioned...

West Edmonton Mall maybe? That would be a prime location, right next to the skating rink.

Bullring store in Birmingham

Over at Appleinsider there is someone claiming to have gotten an email from the Bullring saying that the upcoming Birmingham store will open on April 11th. Anyone in the area who can verify the claim? Hope it's true.

Century City to open in May

The much delayed Century City store is scheduled for opening in May according to the mall's website.

As the transformation of Westfield*Century City progresses, you’ll see more retailers coming aboard. *With its hip, up-to-the-minute fashions, Limited Too is certain to be a favorite with style-conscious girls between 7 and 14 years of age.* In May 2005, IPod and Mac devotees will be able to try and buy the very latest electronics at The Apple Store.

No new info about Braintree yet

Hi Folks-

Well, I still can not find my digital camera. I daresay I am the Empress of the pack-rats!

However, I was at SSP yeaterday (4/3) and there was no indication that the store is any closer to opening. Wdlove, there is no info posted anywhere - just a big black facade with an apple logo on it.

With my luck, the store will open the day I move back to LA.

I certainly hope that you will be able to visit the store also. When are you moving to LA? Those of us here on MacRumors should plan a small meeting that day. ;)

Yes, we are talking about the South Shore Plaza Apple Store. The store is now larger because it has taken over the space of the old Disney Store. That is part of the reason for the delayed opening. The store just closed recently.

Interestingly enough, I got a flyer from one of our local electronics stores - Abt Electronics that said that there was an Apple Store "coming soon" to their location (which is in the northern suburbs of Chicago).

This is something I don't recall seeing before - an Apple Store inside of another retailer. From the pictures, it looks like it will be a real "store," not just a section of Apple merchandise. Also looks like they're getting a B&O store as well. No description on the web site, though, and couldn't find any note of it on apple.com.

Also seems a little strange that Apple would open yet another Chicago location.

As much as I love and enjoy visiting the Apple store in SoHo here in NYC, I have admit, whenever there is a problem with my Mac, I tend to go to TekServe, an Apple reseller I have come to trust and appreciate for their great service and friendly customer service. While the store is nothing like the Apple store, nonetheless, there is a charm to a browsing in a small business store versus a big corporation like the Apple retail store.

Also, it helps that I like 5 minutes walk away from TekServe while I have to take a subway to the Apple store. :D

I just hope that Apple does not erode away small businesses in their retail expansion plan since I heard that they may open one at the Flat Iron district which is not far from where I am and tekserve.

The new Apple store is in the Northbrook Court Mall and should be opening mid-summer to September. You can find the job listings for the new store at Apple's "Search Jobs" web page.

I don't know why so many folks question the opening of more stores in the Chicago area. What's the problem? It is the third largest metro area in the country and it only has, with this new store, five stores. Compare that to the 12 in the SF Bay Area and the 10 in NYC or the 9 in LA. Both LA and NYC have new stores planned as well, why not Chicago?

Eastview Mall

Has anyone in or near the Rochester, NY area heard any more news on the store opening in the Eastview Mall in Victor? I've been to http://www.eastviewmall.com, however they have nothing there and last time I was at the mall, I saw no signs or anything. Anyone know when it's opening and what size it will be?
-Thanks.

While I'm not in the area, I've read on ifoAppleStore that it is scheduled for an August opening. This would fit with the normal 3-6 month lag from job listings to opening date. I don't have anyway of vouching for the info, but the site is usually fairly accurate.

Eastview Mall - Victor (NY) - A southeast suburb of Rochester, this gigantic mall offers over 1.3 million s.f. of retail space near I-90. It's about 8 miles from the Rochester Institute of Technology, and offers 1.3 million s.f. of retail space, with 150 shops, and an adjacent Target, Home Depot and multi-screen cinema. Authorized reseller Jessi Group has kiosk store in the mall. Scheduled for August grand opening. Appeared as a job location on Feb. 25, 2005.

I live in Birmingham and have walked past the store whenever I am in town (which is every day) to see if there are any notices as to when it will open. So far, i have not noticed anything. I asked someone in Dixons XL - also in the Bull Ring - if they knew opening day and they didn't know anything at all about the store. I also asked at the KCLS Apple Centre if they knew anything, and they estimated April.
I will check the Bull Ring website, but I really do hope the store opens soon! The first time I saw Apple were going to open a store in Birmingham I almost had a fit! At the moment all there is, is big black covers over the shop front and the apple sign. I will make sure I go in on the 11th to check if its opening - hopefully it will be saturday instead so I can be there when it opens rather than after college :(
Will get back to use when I know more!
