Thank you the well done update Sahey. It's amazing that we have three store openings pending here in Massachusetts. Now the speculation of which one will be first.

I'm amazed to see THREE new stores for Massachuetts - in addition to those that currently exist...wow - now I have to map the ones I'm not sure of the location on to see if any of these are going to be closer than the Hartford CT store (which isn't all that far).

EDIT: ALL THREE are right around Boston, so Hartford, CT is still my closest (40 minutes in the car each way isn't so bad - these NE states are tiny!). How about an Amherst store or a Northampton store - this is the home of the Five Colleges. UMASS is a big school. The Amherst students may not have anything to spend after meeting this year's $40,000 base tuition costs - but I have a feeling some may not be tapped out. Smith - I'm sure that's a mac loving school.

Still amazed that there is not a New Orleans store. Still pulling for you on that Daveway!

My dream has been and still is the we will get a Flag Ship Apple Store in the Boston area. Actually Sahey shares in my dream. That with the stores that they are adding indicates an interest in the area. Signs the indicate a Flag Ship Store is very possible. I'm talking about like the one's in San Francisco, New York, or London.

Signs of life in Braintree

Hi folks,

Well, I went to SSP just the other day, and there are signs of life - or at least forward motion construction-wise. the door on the giant black facade has been expanded to double doors, and a huge white apple logo has appeared inside a box, so for whatever reason, they've chosen to make the outside look pretty.

thought you should know :)

Thanks! This one has GOT to open soon! Coming up on one year next month since the Braintree job listings went up on Apple's site. That's one hecka long time to open this store.

Lord knows we need one. There isn't really a good place here to get Apple stuff. CompUSA here used to be decent but they have started trying to become a BestBuy or Circuit City with the TV's and all of that...the computer sections, both PC and Mac, are really suffering.

Was the exact same in GR, Michigan. The only place we had was either Chicago (3+hours away in traffic) or near Detroit (2.5hours in traffic) to get to an actual Apple store, otherwise just CompUSA which sucks because they are just retarded, like an underdog BestBuy waiting for its soon-to-be-great situation.

I'm so happy Woodland Mall got an Apple store, from what I hear it is awesome and has a great storefront, prime location in the center of the mall. I am happy personally because it sends Apple close to home, but other than that I am also hoping it gets a few of my friends to switch and just populates the area with Apple products more.

Thank you for the update SCTVGirl, great news. Just hope that the opening will occur on a date that I can attend. July would certainly be a good month for the party. Would be great if we could meet Jen L. ;)

2.5 hours... 3+ hours... that's nothin!!

This past weekend I drove seven hours each way to my nearest Apple Store to get my new Dual 2.0 PM. And, as I'm typing this on my new PM right now I must admit it was worth every penny in gas. ;) My wife and I just made a little weekend roadtrip out of it and played around after we got the PM, so it was fun.

But... I still wouldn't mind if there was a Store in my own town. ;)

it always amazes me how big this country is. 7 hrs in germany means with 99% chance you leave the country. even here in boston 7 hrs is enough to leave new england. and you drive past 5 apple stores on the way........

it just occured to me: from anywhere in germany in 7hrs you can get to an airport and fly to the apple store in london.....

Ha ha ha! Yeah, last year I was on vacation in New England and as my buddy and I drove across Connecticut, Rhode Island and then up to Boston, I remember thinking how crazy it was that we were able to drive across entire states in an hour or less. Everything in Idaho is so spread out, I live in the largest city in the state yet the population of my city and surrounding cities is only around 350-400,000 or so.

I love it though, I grew up on a farm so I guess I'm just a small town farmboy at heart. ;)

Apple, Please Build One In Southern Illinois.

The only thing close to me without crossing into Missouri is an American store in Fairview Heights which only has the eMac and the iBook. We need the real thing on the Illinois side. Please Apple? If you build it, I will buy it. Sorry, needed to say that.

Sheffield and Manchester in the UK are getting stores, in addition to the ones already open in Birmingham, London, and Bridgewater...

Thankfully they're creeping north, I'm hoping there'll be one opening in Glasgow or (preferably) Edinburgh soon! And the minute there is I'm applying for a job :D

Unfortunately not even the allure of an Apple store is enough to make me want to relocate to Sheffield or Manchester... no offence to any residents there, but I love Scotland! (But thank God I'll be out of the country for G8 - I'm only 10 miles from Gleneagles and it's already hell).

Apple Store in Raliegh, NC Crabtree Valley Mall?

Does anyone know if there are real plans to open a storefront in the Raliegh Crabtree Mall? There already is an Apple Store in Durham, but online at the apple website they are still taking applications for a store in Raliegh. I was at the mall a few days ago, and mall managment said that apple hadn't even secured a space in the mall that they would be able to put a store. This seeemed strange to me, that apple would be taking applications for jobs when they hadn't even secured a spot, never mind the fact that they hadven't started setting anything up yet.

-Anyone have any more info? (Sorry if this is a repost...)

No more information, but I'm intrigued by mall management's response to your questions. It seems very unlikely that Apple would continue to seek to fill all the positions through their own website and others without some commitment of a space for the store. My guess is it is just part of Apple's mania around secrecy, and the management is just following the line. However, the response is specific enough that it could be true. If it is true, it is a first as far as I know that store project would be this far along in the recruitment process and have so little done in the securing of a location. It is already six months since the initial listings and I would have thought there would be some indication of construction by now. Perhaps we have another South Shore delay going on here, but there and at Century City we at least knew why. If you go to the mall regularly, could you keep us posted if there is any progress?

Bluewater Opening

While I was out of town and otherwise engaged, Apple posted the opening of its Bluewater Store. It will open this Saturday, July 9th at 9 am. This is the UK's third store with at least two more scheduled.

I'm happy to see that the opening of Apple Stores continues. As you know we have three in Massachusetts waiting in the wings. With the South Shore Braintree store being the longest. If the delay continues, it may go down in books as the longest from announcement to an opening.
