I really wish there was a store in South Carolina, or at least one in Georgia that's near the Georgia-Carolina border.
Sayhey said:Sorry, Roller, no new news on Alabama. What I do have is a new location on Apple's "Search Jobs" web page for "Southampton - West Quay." Which I take to mean this mall. This is the 7th location in the UK and the first on the south coast. It also gives us the number of locations to meet Apple's forecast of 40 by September 30th. Not that I think we necessarily have the right 40. Some of these will likely be pushed into fiscal 2007 and some other locations are likely to be posted soon that may open before September. I'll just keep posting them as they come up so we know what pool of sites to watch.
I should also say that all of the stores listed above, with the exception of this one and yesterday's announced Montreal store have individual job listings out. That starts the clock on what usually takes 6 to 9 months for an opening.

Sayhey said:Apple's "Search Jobs" webpage has two new listings for Apple store locations. One of the locations is the first in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area (the largest US area to date without a store) and along with the previously disclosed Fairfax location (see post #1080) will bring the total in Virginia to six.

Where did you hear that rumor? I've been waiting for such a store in Boston, Philly, and DC. If you have a link I'd love to see it.berkleeboy210 said:And I also just read that Apple is planing to open a Flagship Store in Boston directly across from the Pru. on Boylston Street, supposedly 4 stories and a front made of all glass.
This will be a gold mine for Berklee Kids! Like myself!
LoopRumors.comMajor Boston Apple Store?
February 2nd, 2006
Apple is poised to announce a major retail store directly across from the Prudential Center on Boylston Street in Downtown Boston. The store is said to be Apple's most state-of-the-art store to date with 4 stories and a front made entirely of a glass. Boston's Mayor Thomas Menino is expected to announce plans for the store in the coming week

edit: Ok I think I found it, but I sure can't vouch for the information. Is this the site your tip comes from, berkleeboy? Sounds great and I'll be watching for further news.

Sayhey said:No opening date. In fact Apple has now removed the listing, after MacWorldUK and ifoAppleStore both did stories on the news. It's not the first time they have done this, and follows Apple's mania about secrecy. The listing isn't crucial to Apple's plans for a store at this time because there are no individual job openings to connect to it as of yet. I'll keep looking for the West Quay's reappearance and when the job openings are listed. When the latter take place it is usual for the store to open within 6 - 9 months. It takes that time not only for construction, but also to hire and train personnel.
Apple's upcoming midtown Manhattan retail store will mark a first for the company as sources report the location will be open 24 hours a day. The store, located in the underground retail plaza of the General Motors Building on Fifth Avenue between 58th and 59th Street will also be among the first stores to offer customers an iPod Bar.
The 25,000-square-foot store will dwarf Apple's SoHo location and will be capped by a 32-foot glass cube that will stand in front of the building and house the stairs and elevators that will take customers underground to the Apple retail store.
Sources report that construction of the store is on track to be completed in April, with the store expected to open by the end of May.

has this been confirmed?Sayhey said:[*]Derby Street - Hingham, Massachusetts - opening 2/18
I don't think it's been confirmed by Apple's website (at least I couldn't find it), but ifoapplestore seems to generally have fairly reliable information.puckhead193 said:has this been confirmed?

Sayhey said:Sorry, you got me. It should've read "rumored opening 2/18." As far as I know, it still not official. Not that I'd expect Apple to confirm anything until tomorrow at the earliest. ifoAppleStore seems very confident of the opening date, and this is not something I'd doubt except an overabundance of caution often is needed in all things Apple.
