Apple hasn't updated the AirPod Max in 6 years. When they changed the lightning connector to USB-C, they removed the wired listening mode.
The revolutionary Siri is Google Gemini, rebranded. Such innovate.
Apple skates to where the puck will be, not where the puck is. Wired listening is the past, where the puck was. Once Apple has perfected it, you can be sure it will return. Remember, Apple doesn’t seek to be the first but to be the best.

The revolutionary Siri has Apple’s best-in-class privacy protections. As the leader in innovation, Apple partners with companies to bring groundbreaking technology to customers, who Apple loves. Stay tuned for even bigger things ahead, from the world’s largest startup!

The irony of releasing the iPhone 16 based on the unreleased Apple Intelligence and now holding back products because it's not ready is Apple's continued of self awareness. By their logic then we will NEVER see a new version of these products.

All of us know Siri is what it is. The ship has sailed. Siri is a punch line. And about as many people know what Apple Intelligence is who know what the Vision Pro is.

🙄

I really hope we see a book in the not too distant future about the saga of Siri at Apple. It's been clear since the very beginning that it was deeply flawed.

Right from when Steve Jobs personally bought it and then didn't live long enough to see it implemented, it just seems "cursed" for lack of a better word.

We've heard rumors for literally a decade of attempts to fix it which were given up on for political reasons when it became clear the only way forward was to just abandon it and start over from scratch.

By the time they were forced to address it in 2024, they had years of work ahead of them and they had either not begun it at all or worse, begun in the wrong direction and had to reverse course.

I've been saying for months that it's extremely clear we'd never get the features promised in June 2024 by March 2026 in iOS 26.4. They only announced the Gemini partnership in late January. They also never promised anything more than "over the coming year" which any Apple watcher knows they have worded very carefully to mean anything up to a few weeks before the end of December.

At this rate we will be lucky to truly see the working implementation of what they showed in 2024 by late 2027. And that's only because by then it won't actually be Siri anymore, it will be something based on Gemini.

I’ve been saying this for 6+ months.

Apple learned their lesson from the iPhone 16 launch after getting class action lawsuit for no AI features after that being the sales pitch.

Both the mini and ATV are very capable at what they do right now.

If the only benefit of the new devices is faster chips to run AI, then these devices have to wait until the AI is ready.

Why do we need a new Apple TV ?
Is there something new in the TV world ?
That's the rub... there's just not all that much incentive or need to actually update the Apple TV purely to meet the demand of the current video market. Sure, it'd be nice to have the native support for AV1 that the A17 Pro offers, but even with software-only decoding on the A15-powered Apple TV, AV1 decodes just fine. Support for Apple Intelligence may prove useful at some point, but no one pining for a new model is doing so for that reason alone. The A17 Pro would offer better graphics support for more immersive gaming, but gaming is still such a minuscule market for Apple, that it'd likely take quite a while for most of the mainstream games to really take advantage.

IMHO, by far the most hilarious aspect of this whole delay in a new model is just how wrong so many people have been! Back in October, if you asked anyone on Reddit, the new model was an absolute, positive, 100%, definitely going to happen, guarantee that would get released by end of the month. I kept warning people that Apple didn't have too much reason to release a new model other than primarily production streamlining, but would consistently get downvoted that I had no clue what I was talking about. 🤣😂

Hi, I'm looking to replace my firestick with the Apple TV box. Can you install a IPTV player for mac on these? Thanks

All I need Siri to do with the ATV is "play season 3, episode 11 of The Sopranos." Why is that so tough?
This where the AI bubble breaks for me too. Slapping AI/LLM to everything doesn't need to happen. Sadly it is turning into the adding "i-" on to everything after the iMac. It doesn't actually help or is needed for most tasks. These products Homepod and AppleTVs need an update and instead by the time they come out the demand will be minimal or nonplussed with the "added features".

The current model of the Apple TV works very well, producing much higher quality output than the native apps on my 77” LG OLED TV. I can display my photos, play my music, watch all streaming channels I want. It supports HDR, Dolby Atmos etc. all without advertising and collecting data on what you watch so what else is it supposed to do? I do not care whether I can talk to it apart from searches and it works fine for that function. And I do not have to connect my TV to the internet where it will share my viewing data with whomsoever the manufacturer desires. So I remain puzzled as to what a new Apple TV can do to improve my listening and viewing quality. Quite happy with the current version, just keep making it Apple, please.
one could say the same thing about an M2 Macbook, then M3 Macbook, then M4 Macbook and now an M5 Macbook,

It’s because I need two new Apple TVs because two of mine randomly started the blinky white light of death. I’m sorry. My bad.

I'm shocked anyone thinks they will use the new Siri.

The New Siri™️

I’m getting some New Coke vibes

really no reason to update them otherwise. hell, the Apple TV from 10 years ago still works fine
Yeah, there's really nothing new we need from an Apple TV. That could change next year, though.

Homepod Mini could also wait, especially for the S12 expected to launch late next year.

HAHAHAHAH Apple Inteligence is becoming the MEME of the Decade in the tech industry... announced almost 2 years ago, and we are still waiting for it... I wonder who's decision was to announce something that wasn't even half baked yet hahahahah

Folks, Apple is innovating at a break-neck pace. Just look at the flood of ALL NEW products released just this week! This included a brand new product category, the MacBook Neo, which takes the portable, efficient laptop market to a whole new level, featuring Apple's best-in-class aluminum design at a game-changing price. As Tim has repeatedly said, the pipeline has never been stronger, so stay tuned for the ALL NEW Apple TV and HomePod mini.

One more thing.... The shine has never been brighter on the Apple, and Apple can't wait to show you the revolutionary new Siri and something for the home....
They had this special experience with Neo and hyped it up to distract from the absence of new Siri.

I’ll just go out and say what’s on my mind. The Apple TV 4K as a hardware device is a dead product now. Clearly Apple doesn’t care about it going on four years old now.

DV2 support - but first Hollywood dv2 content should release in 2027
Audio passthrough - for enthusiasts with great audio setup
Apple Intelligence - for the masses

Not confident at all about audio passthrough but other point I could definitely see for next gen Apple tv

Exactly! I own the atv 4k. The issue is I have a home theater and large setup. Even with match content on, I don’t get full Dolby atmos to my system. Friends have recommended the nvidia shield from 2019, which does do full audio meanwhile a 2022 apple does not.

There’s also workout apps like zwift or mywhoosh that are basically gamification with an indoor trainer bike. I have to run the graphics on media because my atv 4k unit cannot handle full res.

My new LG G series oled tv has built in apps that play everything perfectly. Full audio. Faster loading. Instant on with the tv, which basically kills any reason to own the atv4k anymore. At this point the only benefit is my media hub and HomeKit for my smart devices in house.

I think now more than ever Apple should make the Apple TV into more of a gaming device. Consoles are having trouble and new computers are expensive. Windows, also, is becoming a pain point for a lot of gamers and there’s a movement towards Linux gaming in the near future. Imagine an Apple TV with an M4-5 that can play some high-end games on the TV for $200-$300. Apple has made some moves towards attracting game developers to the Apple ecosystem and I think a console-type device might push things forward a little quicker.
The problem with having an Apple TV with say an M5, at that price point, people wouldn’t have the storage. They would be better off, pushing something like a Game/Front Stage mode on a Mac mini, give it 24 gb ram and a 1tb ssd. For like the 5-600 mark (basically sell it at no margin).
Game/Front stage would basically be an Apple TV interface.

The most disappointing part of any Apple event is never what’s announced, it’s always what’s not announced.

BTW, what happened to the 12th gen iPad that everyone said was coming?
They wouldn’t upgrade the lowest-cost iPad from A16 to A18 at the sane time they come out with an A18 lowest-cost MacBook — not Apple.
