POE HomePod mini please.
Pre-behemoth Apple might have done something like that.

Like the S/PDIF they integrated into the 3.5mm IN/OUT jacks on the PowerBooks and old MBP - probably used by a single-digit percentage of users but, back then, the mentality was "hey, we're making high-end products, let's throw in this feature."

Current Apple mentality is "hey, Android sucks more than iOS, Windows sucks more than MacOS, users will never leave the Apple Ecosystem, we barely have to try."

"The new Apple TV and HomePod mini will apparently "help showcase the new Siri and Apple Intelligence features planned for next year.""

But what happens if Apple fails again to release the new Siri or it gets delayed until the end of next year. Why would I buy another device with promises of major features that are not ready. I was burned with the iPhone 16 Pro. Fool me once Apple is all you are getting. Completely my fault but I will never buy another Apple device on a promise of a major feature.

personally, I am buying one as soon as it comes out because I need a new Apple TV.

Any new major feature is just a bonus for me

I cannot imagine Apple TV 4K will be anything more than a spec bump of a new chip. It's insane how long Apple takes to refresh Apple TV 4Ks with just a chip that is been around for years in other Apple products. Then they have the audacity to complain that sales aren't as good as expected. I hope Apple proves me wrong.

Same with HomePod mini. What I want is for them to sync so can be used as surround sound speakers. Improved Siri isn't a good enough reason for the delay in releasing a new product. Maybe releasing this and Apple TV 4K means they're connected somehow (fingers crossed, surround sound)

Everyday it’s a different story.

No more new products in 2025
Or
Its going to launch

POE HomePod mini please.
That'd be wonderful, but 1) Apple loves wi-fi too much and 2) they killed the whole AirPort range (I don't understand why - looking at Ubiquiti's home/small business products is like looking at exactly what Apple's AirPort division should have become).

Devices need to be powered, but it would be amazing if HomePods, AppleTV etc (essentially any relatively low-power requirement stationary Apple device) could run off PoE as well as USB-C. Both mean "just one cable".

Yes, I love ethernet. I don't really understand having your own home (or office) and using wi-fi instead of just running cable. Save the wi-fi for your mobile devices.

My Apple TV 3rd Gen (yea, from 2012) has been BEGGING me to let it go in peace. I have it running upside down because its the only way I'm able to get a stable HDMI connection, and the only streaming app left natively without AirPlay is Prime Video. Definitely going to be a day 1 order for me

If you put out a Apple Tv with a USB C port where i can plug in a webcam so i dont have to use that horrid Connect to my Iphone or Ipad just to make a facetime call, that alone would be worth upgrading.

Outside of that, i dont see what you could do better on the apple tv. It works just fine the way it is. Maybe some custom wallpapers or what ever, but thats a software feature, no need for a hardware refresh for that.

Thinking on this a little bit, if Apple did update the TV and HomePod Mini with more than just spec bumps, it would be very nice if they enabled multi-device atmos with ~5 HomePod devices.

I’d upgrade for that. Until the Apple Intelligence features, I’m not really sure what a new 4K ATV would offer except Dolby Vision 2, e.g. obviously buy it if you don’t have one already or have a very very new TV, otherwise seems like a wait-and-see.

But that feature would get me to upgrade and spend quite a bit, and it makes the timing with both releasing at the same time make sense too. I doubt it, but I’d say… 2% chance?

Regardless, still looking forward to the new HomePod Minis since the sound quality will presumably be better. I really want some nice colored ones for my kitchen to run in stereo :).

I can’t wait for a new and improved Apple TV. One with a camera, a built in speaker, a rotating screen, a remote slot, a caddy for a TV guide, and a cup holder for a jumbo mocca cafe latte grande. They can call it the Apple TV Persephone 😁

Would like to see some new colors for the HomePod mini and wish that they are bright colors. Long time since it was updated. Both the TV and HomePod will be minor updates with chip changes.

I’m in need of my first AppleTv, I refuse to buy something this old.
The thing is though they have always so overspecced the 4th Gen range of Apple TVs that while the latest one may be fairly old it still is more powerful than even the latest release from the rivals.

Even the first version still walks over the others apart from it being only 1080p.

Ultimately there isn't really a great deal they can add to it to make an upgrade worthwhile. Dolby Vision 2 maybe but no-one can take advantage of that for a while even if they release a new one with dv2 support but that's about it. Unless ofc they decide to take gaming seriously rather than saying they are and either pay for a lot of exclusive AAA games or buy a number of big developers because otherwise they won't sell enough boxes to make publishers feel it's worth bringing games over

The only other way to make it worthwhile is if they go totally left field and make it more than a streaming box

If the new Apple TV is to get the A17pro chip has rumoured, the Apple need to allow better games otherwise it’s overkill. The original Apple TV 4K from 2017 is still very capable of running all the latest streaming apps. So why install a A17pro if it’s not for gaming..

We've been hearing this for a while now. I think my definition of 'soon' is quite different.
Mate, "soon" is totally accurate.

It mean's anytime between now and the next ice age.
Which in geological terms, that’s practically tomorrow!

You see, some strange humans measure time in minutes and days, but most of us measure it in epochs.

So yes, it’s coming "soon"...
Right after the continents stop drifting and the next ice age thaws out.

i'm sure there are cool use cases where this would be useful, but i cannot imagine apple looking at the design of that product and adding an rj45 anywhere to it
Maybe it’s why you aren’t a product designer at Apple? No reason why it couldn’t be integrated into the bottom/base with a moulding to exit the cable. They could also ship a power adapter/cable that effectively is usb-c to PoE and not need any other port. It’s not rocket science it’s a cable.
