I got tired of waiting since I need a new streaming box imminently, so I purchased the latest model from Costco, which has a 90-day return policy. If there's a new model announced within the next 3 months I'll just return it.

I was hoping the latest ATV 4K would be released before Christmas as it’s on my list, need two, but looking less likely at this point. My ATV 4K is a couple versions ago.

I was hoping for Apple to finally release a stick alongside a Box.
People hoping this could be the answer to achieve a sub 100 price point….
I would have gotten the box for main TV and 3 sticks for around home, to end the built in software & nightmare and make all 4 TV’s in my house Apple TV’s.
Have to say the remote isn’t great so an improved version is needed.
The Amazon pro remote I find very good with backlight and programmable buttons but it’s only letdown is batteries and not rechargeable USB-C.
I do miss number buttons too as typing pins in isn’t private with on screen keyboards.

Same thing happened with that homepod-with-a-screen thing. Apple was reportedly ready to ship but the AI features weren't finished cooking, so it was pulled back. I have to wonder if something similar happened with the rumored Apple TV 2025?

They probably counted their inventory and realized they could just put the old one on sale with some gift certififcates, blow through teh stock, and release a new one in January or so. Same with Airtags 2.

It is more likely a hold up with the FCC backlog due to the government shutdown or they are waiting until the new Siri is ready. I don't think Apple is ever sitting on a huge amount of Apple TVs so it is an easy to transition to a new one for them.

Bummer. I had 2 on my wish list, one to replace an Apple HD box that is acting flakey, and one to replace the cheap Roku built into my other TV. Guess I will wait. I don’t even care about a new Siri.Apple TV 4K is a hobby for Apple, I wish they cared more…

Or you can just buy the current model and enjoy many years of usage out of it…?

I couldn't wait any longer. Costco.com has the 64GB model for $99.99 Black Friday price (valid thru 12/1). They have a 90 day return policy. If a new model shows up sooner, I'll return it and get the newer one.

you probably wont need to.

I hope so much that I am wrong, but it looks like, we won’t see the ‘new’ Apple TV Box until, around about March 2026 now.

It’s highly disappointing but I honestly feel the amount of press coverage and ‘leaks’ from accurate sources must have been convinced to some degree that it was on its way either October or November.

They are rarely this far wrong on actual product releases as opposed to product features.

I have the feeling that there was an issue and it has been delayed, hopefully the reasons for this are to our benefit.

Hopefully when it comes it will be worth the wait.

This is my mature way of looking at it anyway.
