I mean it's USB-C, if you get an Apple TV with a USB-C remote and you don't have a single USB-C cable to charge it with, there is a bigger problem...lol

If someone's been all-in on the Apple ecosystem and until now has had a MacBook with a MagSafe charger and an iPhone and a previous gen iPad with lightning, where the hell would they have a USB-C cable from?

They had to recoup the $$$ for that Pencil dongle somehow, and say they are helping the environment, and reducing the price at the same time.

Guhrman says the iPhone 15 will come sans screen, since we already have one on the 14.

rumored iPhone 15

I am used for apple to being greedy, but to their credit they finally gave us an usb C port, and chances are that people already have one today anyway. I rather have a USB-C port with no charging cable (as I already have many) rather than an included lightning cable with a lightning port

Isn't the whole point of the forcing apple to go to usb c meant to mean they actually DONT put cables in the box. Because everyone is meant to have one already and apple making products with a lightning port was stopping people from using the usb c cable they already had?

Otherwise why force Apple to make a usb c product?

Can’t include a charging cable… and still didn’t add any Find My option to locate the remote when it gets misplaced.

Couldn’t they have made this a wireless charging remote? It’s not like you’ll be charging it on a daily basis.

Lame Tim, just lame.

Came here to say exactly this. If a big driving force behind the EU forcing USB-C is to eliminate e-waste makes sense for apple to not include the cable. Otherwise they'd be partially (there are other reasons for the mandate like convenience of similar port) defeating the purpose of the legislation.

Also the remote switching to USB-C during this round of upgrades indicates to me this is the Apple TV that'll still be on sale by the time that mandate comes into effect.

My thought is they should increase the price by $5 and include it. I wonder how many consumers will miss the requirement to buy a separate cable.
To me the more annoying thing is the lack of ethernet on the cheaper model - but yeah the cost to Apple to include a cable is negligible so I understand.
