New Apple TV Remote Mute Button…

Who asked for this stupid mute button… and right in the same place where you’ve been trained to press play/pause all these years… so annoying… if I wanted the sound to stop I’d hit pause… I can think of far more useful buttons if they were gonna add stuff….

What for? Wouldn’t you just hit pause if you wanted the sound to stop? I can’t imagine a need for watching tv with no sound that couldn’t be handled by the volume…

On live TV streaming through an app it's pretty difficult to pause ...

Some apps don't let you pause (ESPN, Fox Sports, etc). And even so, I still mute all the time. There's a reason why Apple added it. The complaints about the first Siri remote not having it were not small.

It's super useful when you have a streaming service with unskippable ads.
