Out in the public I have seen some people have them. The bright colored bands are easier to spot. I work in healthcare and several people at the hospital have one.

50 bucks?! LOL... how does anyone justify that price?! Looks like Apple consumers will pay any price just to have the apple name on it, even if its just a piece of rubber, haha.

It's jewelry, a totally fickle market based on perceived worth. For example, the same Seiko 7S26 movement is used in two different watches; the a "lower" end snk809 dull stainless for $55 and in the highly buffed, more waterproofed version sxk013 for $250. Catering to an ego comes at a cost.

Wow, I just look at my watch and the sky. But I guess we can't all be a jet setting international person like you.

I've seen quite a few in Birmingham, not overly common - but more that Android Gear or whatever Samsung uses these days. I did see a load of LG smart watches once, all in CEX just after the Apple watch was released
Of course you did.....

They've been out for a few days, they've just been in the back stock room. I picked up a space black Milanese loop yesterday.
how do you like it compared to the Link?? Ive been wanting to grab the loop, but worried about hair pulls and ease of disconnect of the loop magnet

It's really light and comfortable. I was worried about hair pulls too, but it hasn't been an issue. Just keep it away from the hair on your head, haha.

Dear god how much does a band of rubber cost to manufacture? Apple is making a fortune off everyone purchasing these.

$50 for something that costs 40 cents to make and ship?

I think Apple is going too far with this. Especially when you consider that a base model goes for 299 now (which is still high for the limited functionality).

It really turns me away from Apple brand. Makes me think that Apple is the new Microsoft (under Ballmer).

If people want to spend 50 bucks on an iWatch strap then I applaud this. More value to my AAPL Shares so I thank you, oh consumer!

I'm not bothered. Just amazed consumers are willing to pay $50 for some rubber. More power to Apple for great marketing.

It's something that lasts a long time. A 5$ latte is done in one hour and really gone in eight. Hasn't hurt the coffee industry.

I've never paid much attention to the watch seeing how it's just a novelty/gimmick. Since it relies on the phone being with all the time, it's completely redundant. But 50 bucks for a piece of rubber?! LMAO!
Have you been living under a rock? It's been that price since the introduction of Apple Watch last year.

Still waiting for marco rubio to be president huh?

How people spend their money affects you?
[doublepost=1459000861][/doublepost]

In answer back to your reply on this, YES.

Actually a VERY BIG YES on what others pay affects your future purposes.

Is we have a lot of dim people with money to burn who are seen to be happy to pay say $49 for something that costs under $5 to make, pack and ship, then companies see this, and it sets new price point for other future items, other brands also see "what the public are willing to pay" and lots of prices get pushed up.

It's only when enough people say it's too much, and refuse to buy, do makers re-thing their pricing, perhaps cutting a price of changing things in the future.

So yes, Someone paying $50 for a strap, does in effect affect someone else.

You mean the Apple Watch 1s ;) Same form factor, better internals. The Apple Watch 2, fall 2017, will have a new form factor.

Not if the iPad is anything to go by. The iPad 2 was a third slimmer, lighter, added a front camera, and on top of that upped the specs so much that it still runs the newest iOS.

Very nice collection of bands there!
80% KNOCKOFFS, I just waited and bought the right knockoffs that are almost indistinguishable. :) in fact only the black sport band , hoco, and the one I'm wearing are authentic. Leather loops from Ink00888 (I think) on eBay are $18 and pretty good, thought I had a small separation issue - the link is literally practically a 1:1 clone ($25) the white sport was ($8) and ($11 Amazon) the bay one is better - and there are a couple non knock off third party in there.. Like the hoco brown leather , which I find a hair too small (180 mm wrist)but is a really nice band.

The hoco 3 bead metal is much heavier than most 3 beads and perfect for a suit in winter, totally wrong for Arizona most of the time :)

Anyway, there are some great knockoffs, and I think those all cost me about the same as one leather loop... I can't complain. Actually realistically it was probably aroun $150-200 for all of them, with so many and switching out though I don't have to worry bout wear of the knockoffs which is likely where they will fall short.

I live in the UK. One of Apple's bigger markets where people love to buy the latest and greatest iPhones.

Never seen an Apple watch in the wild since they were launched.
You should maybe go to Specsavers, even here in the UK where people spend most of their earnings to live in a bedsit I have seen plenty of Apple Watches in the wild. Maybe you should see those people in the cities that have 3 or 4G coverage, of course in the country side things are a bit different.
