Would you mind and give some examples where it is really useful?
You just missed nagromme's post right above your post

So you got/stayed with a provider that didn't provide you with good service because of the iPhone? And you stayed with them why?
#fail
No need to look for such a rare situation. I use voice and data all the time, for planning stuff (movie, dinner, coffee shop, shopping, hiking) with friends. I have them all on speakerphone while I look up what's open, prices, directions, trail lengths, weather, etc. At other times I'm discussing stuff with clients, and when they want to discuss something on a web page, or send me something by email, I can actually view it!
I'm no AT&T fan, but it would really suck to have to hang up those calls, check stuff online, call everyone back, discuss, hang up again, check more stuff online, call them all again, etc. etc.!
Otherwise it's like the days of dialup where we'd have to alternate phone and Internet use.
(Plus it's nice to be able to surf and play Words With Friends while someone drones on!)
Almost realistic -- except it should show the call dropping twice during that conversation and end with the wife asking her husband when he was going to switch to Verizon...
Is that why this thread is so long (and in such a short time)?People arguing which COMMERCIAL is better? C'mon have we really come to this?
First iPhone vs Android
Now iPhone Provider1 vs iPhone Provider 2
Ridiculous.

Thanks for the constructive examples. Seems like you are (like I am) in the lucky situation that your calls are not getting dropped. I work with someone in Atlanta, when he calls from is iPhone, the call is always getting dropped after 5-6 minutes, every single time. Very annoying.
So if you would be in this situation - would you rather keep calling back every 5min to enjoy data while talking you would you prefer not getting kicked out every 5min. I think in this situation I would rather prefer not having data and hang up if I need to look up something (since on AT&T I would anyway getting dropped after 5min)
--> depends all on the situation and you have to choose the lesser evil
Don't tell them that. Whenever the weaknesses of the Verizon iphone are pointed out you ger the stupid"at least I can make a call" comment. It happens everytime. I have rollover minutes, I have voice/data and I haven't dropped a call in 2 years. But I still have to listen to that stupid comment.
Same, I have great service with AT&T and after seeing those horrendous 3g speeds on Verizon. I think I'll be sticking with AT&T.I use it all the time. I couldn't even consider switching to Verizon until they eventually add that capability. For me personally, it would be a huge step backwards, but I'm one of those people that has little trouble at all with my iPhone on AT&T.
Exactly. And the phone should be showing 5 bars of signal when it drops. And the call should not go through until the second or third attempt.
"Simultaneous voice and data" requires you to actually be able to make and maintain a voice connection.
Here's a different argument for you
Nearly ALL of my friends and family are on Verizon. With free in-network calling I can and have always gone with the lowest priced family plan, speak for several thousand minutes per month, and never even come close to reaching my minute cap.
Thank you for a valid arguement as opposed to the stupid dropped call post.
higher speed > surf while talking
I'm just not impressed with ATT right now... They need to figure it out.
Off topic: Was it just me or did his wife seem way out of his league?
That is a pretty weak response. He could NOT wait for the phone call to end. There's absolutely no need to have voice and data at the same time. Verizon smartphone customers have been doing for how long now and we survive easily without it. What are the chances of this happening in real life? Extremely slim to none.

Because clearly, the way you use your phone should be how everyone uses theirs? And of course, this is the only example of needing both voice and data at the same time right? I frequently have my phone tethered while I'm talking on it. Having a voice and data stream are why I'm sticking with ATT. Try thinking outside of your own little box before assuming everyone's needs are the same as your own.
There's that stupid comment again. See what I mean?
