Agreed. I have a nice pair of Headphones with an interchangeable cable (low impedance model optimized for mobile devices) but I would consider it a royal pain in the rear having to change cables, depending if I use my MAC, iPhone or use the cans on an aircraft while traveling. It adds nothing but cost and inconvenience.
As you rightly pointed out about the DAC: as someone with a degree in physics I would cringe looking at a DAC-dongle/adapter knowing that my iPhone has a perfectly capable DAC sitting inside being bypassed.![]()
It's not about the iPhone people. It's about the watch. Removing the headphone jack moves the industry forward with headphones that also work with a standalone watch.
Just got myself a set of Bose Quietcomfort 35's in prep for the iphone 7. They sound SO good and the noise cancellation is immense. People claiming bluetooth audio is not up to scratch are just plain wrong
It's even worse for anyone with a decent set of headphones, cause the DAC in the cheap adapter will be no where the quality of the current DAC in the iPhone 6, so we get worse audio quality.
Most people who use cheap or bundled headphones will never tell the differnce though
Beats headphones? No thanks. I made that mistake back in 2010 (Monster Beats). They turned out to be heavy, overpriced, mediocre sound-quality headphones.
So, mediocre, overpriced, show-off headphones to go with a mediocre, overpriced, show-off phone. It isn't known what new Beats products Apple has in the works, but it seems likely the company will debut both new wireless headphones and Beats headphones that adopt Lightning connectors, as the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus will not have a headphone jack.

Mediocre, i.e. of moderate quality. Speaking of audio quality here, not assembly. I'd say they don't make the top half, as far as over-the-ear headphones go, in audio quality. And their prices are relatively high, for that money one can buy better sound quality. There's intense competition in the segment.Mediocre? there actually quite good, at least the Solo2 that I've got are. Show off? i don't see how they are show off headphones, how can headphones show off? Don't forget Beats was brought by Apple, so the new range may have been worked on by Apple, with improvements.
best comment ever and so true!! hahahahahaWhy am I not surprised? Removing the 3.5mm jack is just Tim's ploy to make more money off Beats. Guess "tax dodging/selling underpowered and outdated Macs/selling overpriced products/not updating or fixing things that need to be fixed and just adding more emoji to iMessage" isn't bringing in enough money.
yes and the battery life is going suck. and when it doesn't hold its charge anymore, you have to buy a new set of wireless headphones. just more $$ for AppleAfter trying a cheap pair of wireless headphones I can say with confidence that I am totally ready to cut the cord.
Just need ease of use, ease of charging and a decent sound!
Not my experience and I use mine for the gym tooI love mine too, but the bluetooth on thme is crapiest i have ever used. If my iPhone is in the side pocket of my pants and i'm going to the gym on my bicycle the sound is cutting off.
The truth hurts, doesn't it?
With the presence of the 3.5mm jack, lightning port and USB-C ports varying across so many devices, Apple surely is going to cause compatibility issues at some point if not imminently.
also the wireless headphones will lose it's battery capacity. today it can hold 100% but 3 months later 90%, then it decreases dramatically after 6-8 months. a year later battery capacity is i guess around 50-70%. my wired Bose headphones will be at 100% because it has no battery. Some folks will say, they're just buy another $100-$150 wireless headphone when the battery dies. but my wired Bose for $150 i can use for 5-10 years easily. My cost is $150 vs some folks yearly $100-$150. At the end who's has more money in their pockets. Me of course, and you who has wireless headphone yearly replacements is Apple, lol.Glad I went for the 6s. I don't listen to a lot of music on my iPhone through headphones these days but when I do the last thing I want to worry about is a dongle or some wireless headphones that I have to worry about charging. Thanks but no thanks!!!!!
People really like to slam Beats, but they actually are pretty good.
