I have multiple cases from them. I put them in front pocket, back pocket, jacket pocket or just carry it around and not one button has fallen off.

It isn't worth your trouble to snap a few photos with your iPhone and email them? If I were them, I'd want proof as well. What company would send you a free replacement without proof?

"all of these reports about buttons falling off"- I've only seen three or four reports in this thread. That doesn't make it an epidemic. My guess is that the majority of customers are happy with their bumpers.....I know that I am.

Perhaps the bumpers you bought were from a bad batch or something. I've put and pulled my iPhone out of my pocket more times than I can count since I received these bumpers, and they've held up just fine.

Exactly, 3 or 4 reports in this thread. This small community of the millions of iPhone users that there are. If there's 3 or 4 out of a few dozen/hundred who have posted in the accessories forum, I imagine it's likely amplified even moreso from those who don't come here. I'm not trying to suggest it's so widespread that 1 in every 2 bumpers are defective. There are plenty of happy users, and I've said a few times how good they were and just like the official Apple bumpers. Mine just sucked.

It isn't worth $4 for me to take pictures, sync my phone/camera to the computer, log in to sw-box.com again, find the email and shoot off an email of pictures detailing my problem and only then hoping for a replacement, which at the very least would take 15 days to get here (if I'm lucky).

I don't like companies that require 'proof' of anything, a LOT of companies will trust emails to customer support about quality control problems without asking for pictures or video. They even said "if you could include pictures, or useful VIDEO" - like what? You don't trust that my buttons fell off? It isn't as if these things are $20-30 a pop, there's nothing for me to gain in telling you that my $8 order that took almost 3 weeks to get to my house fell apart. *grumble*

Just to throw some more anecdotal evidence out there, not 1 in the 50 that I have had the buttons come off.
...and more times than not satisfied customers don't voice an opinion - it's usually those with an axe to grind.

if the buyer isn't going to take the simple steps to document their problems they should have no serious expectation of receiving support.

seriously.

The iPhone has a camera in it. Not hard to email pics :/

Was disappointed with these bumpers. The look cheap and they do not have the tackyness of the apple bumper.

So has anyone found a cheaper knockoff that is in fact the same as the apple bumper?

I want the rubber to be tacky so when its on a inclined surface it says put.

The rubber on both of my bumpers look and feel exactly the same as the rubber that is used on the Apple bumpers. Same amount of tackiness.

They look cheap? They look almost exactly the same as the Apple bumpers. The only difference between these and the Apple bumpers is the power and volume buttons, which look slightly different.

The rubber and plastic parts are exactly the same as the apple bumper. I'm more than pleased with the 3 I picked up. No problems with any of them.

Sw-Box just put up a black version of this dock that they claim works with Bumpers.

you're thinking from a north american standpoint. many countries don't hold the same philosophy as us in that the customer is always right.

Unless the Apple bumper has changed since I got it on day 1...these are not the same. There is 0 tackiness (the rubber on these is closer to the rubber on the SGP Neo Hybrid EX). I can take my iphone and place it on flat surfaces and the push it and it resists. These knock-offs dont do that. Also I got a red one, and the plastic looks cheap.

If you're happy then fine, but I expected OEM replacement quality.

I got my Apple bumper during the free case program. I've compared mine with someone who bought a case on day 1, and it's the same.

I also bought a red bumper from SW, and the plastic looks exactly the same as the Apple bumper's plastic that I also have (except for the color, of course). The rubber is just as tacky as my Apple bumper when I push it along a flat surface (as you described above). One of my friends is one of those iPhone OCD people:p, and he went and ordered a few of these after he saw mine. My friends that dished out $30 for their bumpers were like "Aw, man..... I could have spent the other $25.60 on apps!" when they saw mine.:p

I don't know why I keep coming back to this thread to defend these bumpers..... as long as I'm happy, what do I care if you aren't?

Besides the buttons on these bumpers (which are nice enough), they are as if they were manufactured by the same company that makes them for Apple.

This. SO much. The materials are the same and these sw-box ones are actually slightly thicker so it even raises the iPhone off the table more than the Apple ones. The rubber is grippy enough that it offers resistance. People are just WAY too picky about stuff like this.

These things are identical to Apple's (the buttons are the only slight difference)... same exact amount of tackiness, same materials. I think some people expect cheap....get a great product, but still think it's cheap. It's all in their head. :D

Apple does not make a red so you cannot compare it. The plastic on the red I received looks cheap (meaning is would crack or shatter with the first fall.

I did not get my bumper during the free case program. I got it day 1 when I bought the iphone. I have read that the Apple bumper rubber changed shortly thereafter.

I am asking no one to defend these cases...I offer a different perspective and think they are not as good as the apple version...but for the price....who cares about that unless the quality is bad.

Since some here report buttons falling off...

I suppose you can go through 4 of these before you have equalled the price of one Apple bumper...but is that reasonable thinking?

About 3 weeks ago I received my first order of two Bumpers from SW-Box. I was happy that I had no issues with buttons falling off... until two days ago when a minus (-) separated. Fortunately I didn't lose the button. Okay, an isolated incident, and one drop of Crazy Glue was an easy fix.

In a second order I received four Bumpers in various colors for myself and girlfriend. While removing one of hers from the packaging yesterday, another minus fell off. Back to the Super Glue. :(

It got me thinking that this was becoming more than just an isolated incident. With little-to-no effort I was able to coax the rest of the minus buttons to pop free. I have no doubt that in normal use some of them would have eventually been lost. It seems that the plus (+) button got all or most the glue during production, although with a bit more effort I was able to pop one of those off too.

I still like these Bumpers, and they are VERY CLOSE to the official Apple product, but it is clear that the buttons differ greatly in that the Apple version uses metal, while the knock-offs use plastic that is not very well attached to the underlying post.

Anyone got some more info/advice on how to loosen up the power button on these? My green transparent one has the same issue and the power button is too tight to press. Tried pushing it out from the inside with quite a lot of force multiple times with no luck :(.

The docks do work with the bumpers I can confirm.

Edit: They also work with Apple bumpers

I got the Iphone 4 dock and i tried it with my old iphone 3G and it fits fine , so to people with the 3GS/3G just get the iphone 4 dock

Hi, I have the same issue...

The power button is too tight.... I am thinking of trimming it down by sandpaper....

Another solution is to pull out the power button and not using it at all... but you'll need some finger nail to be able to push the power button.

I can click the power button on the middle of the top part of the bumper (not directly on the power button that attached with the bumper).
