Good for him but sort of a silly and unnecessary product.
I don't think so. I can't tell you how many times I've had to search for a USBC to lightning adapter for charging/ connecting. Now that most of my devices have been forcibly moved to USBC, I don't have to put up with that annoyance so much. The actions of the EU are a pain, but this is one advocacy I can get behind.

I'd disagree.... I think it's kind of genius. As the standard moves to USB-C for iPhones, the Lightning cables are going to start vanishing. Stores won't bother carrying them on retail shelves anymore, when fewer and fewer people need one.

It's already been a hassle for me when I drove friends from out of town around in our minivan. They all asked, "Do you have a cord I could plug in my phone to charge?" and I didn't have both types of charging cables handy.

Seems like a nice option for someone who:

Doesn't want to carry around lightning to USB C adaptors, or extra cables.

Example. Until recently my SO had a iPhone 11 with a lightning adaptor. Everything else, and I mean EVERYTHING is either USB A or USB C. I have USB C to USB C cables all over the place. In every vehicle, carry bag, and office. We were stuck remembering to take a lightning cable everywhere. Since you're putting a case on your phone ANYWAY. It's one less thing to think about if you have a lightning device.

The 11 is gone, replaced by a 16PM so it's now a moot point.

But I see the utility in it for some users.

I mean, if it suits your needs go for it.

I still have a 13PM and I don't mind carrying addl cable and power brick but that's just me.

I think we’re going to see a lot more of these unconventional accessories.

People are holding onto their iPhones for a 3rd, 4th, 5th year and beyond in a way they didn’t used to. As those devices age there’s going to be a market for accessories that help mitigate the frustration.

I’d rather buy a USB-C Mini but Apple won’t take my money.

Just too bad it didn’t come out all those years ago. Great idea. Poor timing for all of us that had to endure those years.

I never understood the rep the lightening port gets. I've never had a broken lightening cable. I've seen co-workers destroy theirs, and I never understood how they managed to mangle them so badly, when mine always look pristine when I hand it down to the next owner. And I usually keep my iPhone for 3-4 years before replacing it.

This case could help reduce my traveling "cable haul" for my iPhone SE2022, the only device other than a seldom played iPod nano that uses lightning. Thank you for mentioning adapters, but I prefer to carry a lightning cable. I'll wait for reviews with interest as it's also marked as "sold out" for my model.

If that's your main phone while traveling, you'd be putting your faith in this case. Perhaps put a spare Lightning cable in the bag, unless you're already carrying a Qi charger.

Well, this case is essentially an adapter. And it's also an untested device, so yeah, I'd keep that Lightning cable in the travel kit.

Never mind, hehe.

"connecting to the Lightning port through a precisely aligned connector embedded within the enclosure"

Regarding a case with a precise aligned connector, magsafe cases could learn a thing or two from this idea. To improve magsafe case power transfer, someone should design a magsafe case where we could charge the case itself, and the power would go up into the phones USBC port through a ribbon cable inside the case, instead of having to go through the plastic shell of the case, which may degrade power throughput.

Takes money to make money.
The expense of engineering is very high. He spent boat loads on it.
Just needed the idea/product out a few years earlier as i think he is too late now.
