Low cost iPhone is such an obvious stab in the dark.
It's a two edged sword. A xenon flash does provide much brighter light and thus more power to stop the action and fill up the room but it cannot be used for video and too often a direct flash light just overexposes everything. A good example is the second photo in your link;
I thought the flashes would have to be further apart from each other to actually make a difference? Someone correct me if I'm wrong as I have little understanding of the effects...
A common theme, however, is that the low cost iPhone will not include a black option.
flash and colour? just gimmicks again, I want a larger screen!!!
If they seriously release another repackaged same old phone , they have lost the plot.

I hope Apple changes things up and doesn't call the next iPhone a 5S. Call it the iPhone 6 or just change the whole naming scheme.

That was dual LED, the xenon was under it.
That said, given the expense etc I think I'd rather see better low light sensors than a xenon flash at this point. Particularly if it really does eat battery life

Am I the only one that sees the logistical nightmare that stocking and selling this many SKUs would present?
I'm just not convinced that that they are going to shoehorn themselves into this kind of headache when 3rd party cases available today already address the problem of personalization via color.
OR people who have not yet bought into the iPhone echo system will now do so at the lower price point.
The iPad Mini is not a good comparison as those folks who skipped the iPad 4 and got a Mini instead either didn't have an iPad to start with OR already had an prior iPad and saw no reason to upgrade in the same form factor.
Apple does not need to increase its refresh cycle. Its already almost too fast. If anything they should slow down a bit and look at enticing upgrade buyers instead of fresh blood, which is what was driving those initial booms.
I don't like the muted weird orange personally. Also, wasn't there already a news discussion this exact thing?
For those of you who are misinformed, "Emerging markets" doesn't mean Bent Toe Alaska..
If you live in the US, you won't have the option of buying the "low cost" iPhone, unless you want to move to India or Vietnam or similar.
If they seriously release another repackaged same old phone , they have lost the plot.
Why is dual flash needed?
Why not a black color?
Isn't not painting the lower cost phone cheaper than painting, therefore lowering the cost?
How about a Xenon flash? I just saw this (admittedly old) comparison, wow:
