However, there needs to be a really good reason for it's core customer to not buy the low cost iphone. Right now the iphone 5 is not appealing enough. Which is part of the reason the iphone 4s is still so tremendously popular.
.

These low cost iPhones have worse spec, you won't be able to run the latest apps and games. That could be very annoying...

Hey look..

If you want to jump through major hoops to chase after a phone that Apple never intended for the US market, that's on you.

Enjoy your "prize"

What hoops? All what I'm saying is regionalization is a thing of the past; nowadays any product that gets released anywhere can be shipped anywhere in the world.

Apple is smart enough to recognize that not everyone who wants an iPhone can pay $650, or sign a killer 2 year contract with $85+ monthly payments, so I have no doubt it will be released in the US too, so that Apple, not ebay resellers, will get your money

I've like a blue iPhone.. after 5-6 years of having black iPhones, it would be awesome to be able to get it in blue.

Am I the only one that sees the logistical nightmare that stocking and selling this many SKUs would present?

Guess you missed the rumors about the single model iPhone. No more making one for each carrier.

And I agree about how silly the whole color idea is. If you want color, buy a case or a akin

I highly doubt they would make an iPhone designed for emerging markets (cheaper parts) have any type of color other than white or black. It just doesn't make sense on a marketing standpoint. They would have to sell this in the USA too, because there's going to be people who want this and can't get it because they don't live in some foreign country. Unless of course they make the iPhone 5S have the same color choices.

Multicolored polycarbonate shell? Looks like a Lumia approach.

Ever heard of iPods?

A case or a skin is not the same. If you're getting one solely to change the colour, it's nothing but a stop gap solution.

I wish they could skip the aluminum and go for a more 3GS material/form factor. Aluminum dents and scratches super easy and gets ugly. 3GS was awesome.

Trouble ahead. Consumers will choose the low cost iphone over the iphone 5s by a wide margin, just as they did with the ipad mini. Profits will decline. It would be ideal to see the iphone 6 come out at the same time as the low cost iphone. But that's not gonna happen. We're stuck with the 5s for another year. Apple needs to up their refresh cycle, and in a way that doesn't harm margins.

Lol, this isn't going to be available in the us, will likely support the china mobile protocol (not gsm, CDMA, or LTE.. Can't recall it's name).
Also, google which sells more the FREE iPhone 4 or the $200 iPhone 5, then feel free to repost.

Ever heard of Nokia? They've been doing multicolored phones long before Apple even planned an iPod.

My point wasn't that Apple was the first to use colour. That would be absurd, as would claiming that Nokia was the first. My point was that Apple has a long history of doing this. If you're trying to call out a copycat strategy, you're a decade too late. Good job.

That was dual LED, the xenon was under it.

That said, given the expense etc I think I'd rather see better low light sensors than a xenon flash at this point. Particularly if it really does eat battery life

My old SE phones had xenon flash, pictures were fantastic at night and they had a led for taking videos; regarding battery life hmm i dont know but they never died on me plus its not like you will take 100 photos daily with a camera phone :) the only problem i see is the iphone 5 sooo thin i doubt they can put a xenon flash plus led light and keep the flat profile.

I think having a variety of iPhone colors to choose from would be a good idea. Not everyone wants a case and replacing the back cover yourself is a pain.
