You people need to take a step back and evaluate what angers you, affects you, etc.

It's a simple advertisement in a competitive market. Both companies want your money, there is no reason to get upset at one and praise the other. Apple has their "if it's not an iPhone" commercial...who do you think that is mostly directed at?

Anyway, I am looking forward to my iPhone arriving Friday. But, before I get rid of my note 5 (great phone) , I'll probably give Samsung pay a try once....just to see it in action.

Samsung Pay can be used on both NFC card readers and regular magnetic strip readers. Apply pay can only use NFC. It is a valid point and should be a consideration.
I'm going to tell you something right now. I did not know this about Samsung pay. I watched the ad and I still didn't know that about Samsung pay. Had you not told me this I would be sitting and wondering how that ad makes sense. Now I know.

iirc, the whole magnet strip thing will soon be moot as most retailers are mandated to switch to chip and pin or face fines
There aren't any mandates. It just makes it such that retailers are actually responsible fornfraudelent transactions now. You're not wrong in that we are going to see "everyone" adopt NFC and/or chip readers, but magnetic strips right now are still a very big reality. People keep their phones for 1-2 years, on average, so for TODAY, it's not a bad feature for us Yankees.

I didn't know about this feature until today but it kind of makes me jealous of the Galaxy. I really don't like to pull out cards (or even take them all with me since I'm terrible at losing my wallet) and I always have my phone with me, so the sooner I can have everything go trough my phone the better.

Yeah, those who don't see the superiority of SamsungPay on a SGS6 clearly don't understand how their technology works, or are in denial. Samsung built in a magnetic transmitter in the SGS6, so it transmits the same signal your card transmits when you swipe. So what percentage of merchants in the US will take Apple Pay? 10, 20, maybe 30% max? What percentage will take Samsung Pay? 100%. Anyone with a magnetic strip reader takes it.

If you don't see that as an advantage over Apple Pay, you're in denial of reality. I love my iPhone, and I love Apple Pay, but 20% vs 100% of merchants is a no brainer.

The technology isn't pure retardation. It is the way they go about advertising their sh*tty products. They just have to include an iPhone in their ad and mock it.
Eh. Apple never fails to mention Android in a keynote. They just "have" to talk about how this and that adoption rate is better than Android.

I'll tell you something. We are talking about samsung's ad on an apple forum. Samsung did it right in that regard. I will say that, unfortunately the ad didn't do a good job explaining what exactly Samsung pay does better (I truly didn't understand the ad until it was explained to me).

You must be very young if you think that. Apple haters were born alongside Microsoft. Lol.
OS X haters were born alongside Microsoft. iOS haters appeared out of nowhere in the last few years (or at least as far as I can remember), and it was most likely due to false advertising set up by Samsung who explicitly bash the iPhone and thus their followers start bashing the iPhone as well.

Which is kinda like how Apple mocked Microsoft in a lot of their ads. Or Phil Schiller mocking android and the different manufactures. Look, it happens. All companies do this, including Apple. Its a bit hypocritical to bash Samsung yet turn around and praise Apple when both have a history of taking shots at the competition.

Now see here young man, don't you be bringing logic into this thread

Why wouldn't they capitalize on the fact that they're currently the only mobile contactless payment option that can be used just about everywhere? It's not asinine, it's smart.

There's no way Apple would even entertain the loop pay tech.

It's basically the tech of putting a rotary phone handset into a 150 baud modem.

If anything it will delay the retirement of mag stripe swiping. At least in the US people will continue to do what is the most comfortable; swiping their cards even if the cards are chipped.

We need to get away from swiping, this tech doesn't help.

To me the big question is not how easy it is to use, nor in how many places it can be used, but rather, how secure is it?

To me the only thing more secure than Apple Pay is cash, which in the words of the late Yogi Berra is just as good as money.

For the most part I don't see Apple Pay as easier or more convenient to use than a credit card, but it is definitely more secure to use than a non-chip credit card and infinitely more secure than a standard debit card. I don't see how the Samsung device used in the commercial could have anywhere near the security of Apple Pay.

what a stupid ad. everyone knows to put their finger on the home button.

what's with samsung pay with their phone turned on before scanning?
I don't need to do that with the iphone! place thumb on home, place phone near terminal. no need to even power it on!

samsung mobile keeps mocking iphone users like we're some sort of morons. nope, not gonna buy your phones, *******s.

Nah. iOS haters were born with android lol. It really has nothing to do with Samsung. Both sides take jabs at one another. Samsung,
Lately, has been more aggressive with their ads. That's all. I'm sure they'd love to take credit for creating this group of people you speak of, but I just don't see it.

The ad is stupid because it doesn't clearly communicate what is being advertised. I missed it too. Samsung pay isn't limited to NFC readers. It also works on regular magnetic terminals. That is what they are showing in the video, however I'll admit, they didn't do a good job of doing that, except for maybe people who already knew about the feature anyway.

Without some explanation it doesn't really quite seem that the commercial itself does that at all.

Bingo.

What's wrong with it? Apple and their previous ads were much more cutting...
It's a slick ad, but still pointless, I'm sticking with a card.

For people getting upset over these ads, just watch some old I'm an PC, I'm a Mac ads by apple.... Samsung is just copying apple ;) and seems we don't always have a sense of humour when we are the target.

It's just an ad... Meh...

It's obviously not any more secure than a regular swipe. The reality is, that has been good enough for Americans for a very long time. And it's the biggest reason why it's taken so long to adapt to higher security options.

I welcome added security but I also don't fear the old systems, really. I've had a problem but once and my money was credited back that very day.

Samsung is counting on that. ;)

I wouldn't say it will delay anything. There are measures in place outside the reach of any of these companies that are getting chip and pin (and NFC) rolling in the US. This is just a means for people to get accustomed to paying with their phones sooner. I don't see it as a bad thing at all. I wouldn't doubt if their phone two generations from now abandons the technology. It will have served its purpose by then.

The problem with these new Samsung adds is that they're plain aggressive. They showed the iPhone being broken, dysfunctional, poorly made, etc. while Samsung is triumphing over it, even though most of it is exaggerated. Also, I hate how both Apple and Sammy portray paying using a card to be a pain and failing constantly. It's not, it takes 10 seconds to take the card out of my wallet/pocket, insert it in the terminal, and enter my PIN. ****ing modern US propaganda.
