I will never purchase an apple product from Wal-Mart again. Made the mistake of buying an iphone 4s from them and my account got completely raped. The guy messed everything up so much I had $160 in overages. Live and learn

NIce display, stands out in the dull Walmart warehouse style stores. Too bad it'll get trashed within a week. Those hands on units will be broken, stolen, or severely damaged, the tables will be scrawled on, and the glass will be smashed.

This is why we can't have nice things!

It would have been better to put these inside the stores with one Apple employee staffing it. At least then you protect the products and have an expert to answer questions.

I just can't agree with this. Going to an Apple Store, getting expert help, conversing with your fellow nerds, this is all a part of a greater experience. Taking this store to Wal-Mart seems to cheapen this, as it does not offer anything near this experience.

Still, I guess it is always a good thing to spread the good word to store near you.

Millions of people - possibly half of the US population - live two or more hours away from an Apple store. Some much farther away.

If you agreed with Best Buy - which has been selling Apple gear for ages - and if you think about Apple's continued success with Best Buy as part of the wildly successful Apple retail formula (easily the envy of the industry - even outside of tech), then you cannot by default have anything against Wal Mart. You can clearly see a little bit of the "Apple Touch" in those Wal Mart Apple displays.

Wal Mart, in fact isn't tarnishing Apple's image. If anything, Apple is classing up Wal Mart's.

We have had these setup in Army Post Exchanges for about a year.

Pity we can't get Mac Pros there.

Call me a royal snob but it kills me to see apple products in walmart.

I know 11ty billion people go through a walmart each day and apple is probably making bank off it.. but still...

I bought my current iPad in an Apple store.
I'd have no problem buying my next one in Walmart.

Jeez. It's a freaking store.

Had it not been for this post, I would not have known. I avoid Walmart at all costs. If I can buy it elsewhere, I will. Luckily, I live in a large metro area that offers alternatives. I guess I am a snob, but I can't stand Walmart. If I absolutely HAVE to go there, I slip in the tire and lube door, get what I need and get out before anyone sees me or I have to see too many people in curlers and pajamas.....

I won't shop there even if it means me paying double elsewhere. The folks are rude, the products crude and employees have bad attitude!

Now, if you can only find a Walmart employee who gives a crap about waiting on you!
How is that the largest retailer has the worst service?

Why would the top "innovative" company lower themselves to schlepping with the lower class teeming masses?

Besides iPhones, I have only purchased one Mac at an Apple store, a Mac Pro. My last iPhone 3GS and 4S and all the rest of my Macs were purchased at BestBuy.

Wal-Mart is now closer than BestBuy and the five Apple stores in my area so I can see going to Wal-Mart to buy my next Mac.

I'm sure these displays will hold up just as well as the other laptops on display.. Everything that gets put on display gets completely mangled and destroyed... Keys get popped off the keyboards, screens get scratched up, etc. People can be absolute animals! I hate Walmart!

Picked up the iPad A5X at the local Wallmart on day 1 release..
In and out in 15 minutes with the model I wanted and an ear full of "Have a good day"..
Saved myself a 2+ hour round trip and the long tedious line up at the Apple Store..

About Time

Im surprised it took this long. They were the only products made in China that weren't being sold in Walmart.

I completely agree with those of you who said that these displays will get trashed within a month or two. Demo units will have cables that will look as if they've gone to hell and back, possible missing keys and perhaps cracked screens. There will also be all sorts of scratches and nicks on the counter. I'm not saying this just to be an ##$!@ (well maybe a little), but I speak from experience having seen the videogame and computer sections of my local WM stores in pretty bad repair. They would be far better off if they kept everything within a glass display like Target does.

We have similar displays at our Media Markt here in Netherlands.

(Media Markt is a large electronics and appliance retailer in several countries in Europe)
