I'm about to get this monitor too. Based on the reviews and user opinions like yours, it is much easier to go right. It would be very nice if you could share yours thoughts about the monitor, now that you've received it. Thanks :)

Sooooo does anyone know why this monitor appears on all the Dell international sites but isn't available in the US?...

It doesn't appeaer to be available via Dell in the UK at the moment either – although the S2209W is.

Given what mddharma posted and what I've read on various forums (orders being pushed back to July at first, then to August; the amount of people interested in this model; one supplier to Dell having problems producing etc.), I would guess that demand is an awful lot greater than supply.

In the UK, all the resellers that I checked not so long ago were having stock problems, to the extent that one or two were reporting the model as no longer produced. This doesn’t seem to be problem now (I'd say the average price equates to $365 including VAT of 15%), but the previous issues seemed to back up the posts I read about production supply problems.

Mine says it was made in July 2009, so I'd say it's still in production.

I posted this review a few weeks after buying mine. In short, it's a nice, high-end display for the price; basically "lower top-of-the-line". My biggest complaint is the gloss square bezel (just the bezel is gloss, the display itself is matte), but overall I love it.

I bought two of these and soon after was thinking of going for the 24" ACD but I'm glad I decided against it. I got them for a bargain price of £200  and couldn't be happier. Bright, crisp and worth every penny. Those that are waiting... it's worth the wait!

Only issue I have is the USB ports are on the left whereas I did find them more useful on the right but that's just nitpicking! :p

I got that screen today and similarly to most of the ppl writing here I'm quite happy to have it. Was just wondering if it's worth calibrating? After plugging in it seems to have own colour profile (as shown). Is the best what I can get or shall I fiddle with the calibration tool?

vertical display settings

from above all it looks fantastic so I visited one of the DELL showrooms in Hong Kong today and try 2209wa on with my 13'3 macbook white (late 2007 with GMX3100 graphic card)... it works fine on horizontal though there is a slight problem when it goes vertical - it doesnt stretch out as much pixel as it should .... rather more like placing the 1280 x 800 right at the centre of the monitor with funny pixels above and below... anyone knows if that's compatibility with the mac (as the other one demonstrating on windows look perfectly fine in vertical) or just my settings (i turned it 90 degrees already) ?

or it doesnt work with mirroring?
would be the major factor as I'd be using it vertical most of the time...

I never saw this thread until 14 seconds ago,

I have the artic silver 2209WA , it looks way better with apple stuff next to it.

Woah woah woah woah woah....woah...woah......woah.......woah.........woah........

There's a silver one!?

Pics please!

Sorry for the threadjack, but since the 2209WA still is yet to resurface, I was looking at other monitors. Does anyone have experience with the new "professional" line of monitors from Dell? Here is a link to the 22" model:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/...etail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=bsd&cs=04&sku=320-8323

They have the same warranty as the UltraSharp models, and have the height, tilt, and rotate abilities of the UltraSharp, but they are TN panels. I haven't been able to find many reviews on this model. Anyone else have any luck?

I know that dell still manufactures the 2209wa's because I received two replacements a few weeks ago. I suppose they might have a stock somewhere for replacement purposes only.

As for the professional series monitors, I found a review here: http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitor...10-22/4505-3174_7-33656461.html?tag=mncol;lst

It seems like a solid all-a-round monitor. It isn't as nice as a 2209wa, but as long as you aren't concerned about color matching and calibration, then it should be a fine monitor for your general needs. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with any dell monitor.

Hi There - Long Time Lurker, 1st Time Poster

Hi everyone, I'm new here, but thought I would post my thoughts.

I've been following this thread since it's inception and it drew me towards looking at the 2209wa, and ultimately buying it.

I got mine from ebuyer.com, who have seemed to have them constantly in stock.

Since receiving the monitor last month, I have been nothing but happy with it.

My productivity has improved ten-fold from trying to code PHP/MySql projects on a 13" MacBook screen alone - and my Pro-Tools sessions (small ones mind, the MacBook isn't great at playing back more than 4-5 Audio Tracks) have been easier and quicker to manipulate - it's great seeing the mixer window on the MacBook screen. Ok, general observations of any Dual-Monitor setup, but nonetheless perhaps useful observations to anyone considering an extra screen.

I've always been a dual monitor fan, but the clarity and sharpness of this monitor surpasses anything else I've used before.

My one gripe; which may however suit others is that if Energy Saver or I put the monitor into standby mode, it un-mounts any USB devices attached to the USB hub feature of the monitor. Whilst some may find this convenient, it would have been nice to have the choice. I fell foul to a touch of data corruption from an external HD this way..

All in all, Great monitor, great value - and seemingly abundant in stock in the UK at the moment!

None of these coupon codes work anymore! Anyone else have any suggestions? I have been waiting for months for this to become available again! Should I just bite the bullet and pay full price?

Depending on how urgently you think you need it, you might want to wait. It appears that several months go by and they keep putting this on special. I see that from past deals archived on online deal sites.

See attachment and note different dates. You can register on this site (free) http://slickdeals.net/ and set a deal alert for this monitor. Probably you can do the same elsewhere online, because when the deal appears, it expires fast!

Good luck!

Fantastic monitor. Text could be a little sharper in OS X though. I run this on my Mac Mini. If anyone has a fix for unsharp text, please let me know.
