I don't know why that video was shared. It's obviously not edited. The Jalopnick video on the other hand was great.

Only a premium thing?

It's great that Apple has worked with auto makers to integrate this into their vehicles. But it seems like it is only available for luxury cars. What about other, less expensive cars? Maybe Apple only sees this as a premium service.

Poor Video

Why do I think someone at Benz is going to get a pink slip for this mess today. Its painful to watch. I stopped after about 3 minutes of continued repeats.

details

I'm not holding my breath on BMW.

If CarPlay is anything like their iPod integration it'll be a rough ride. Mine locks up about once a week :(

this video sucks.

cuts, "actor" =, looking to the side. the deliberate and slow pushes and hand movements as if this is a 1060s movie (thinking of the original Oceans' 11)

They really need a much cleaner Siri interface for texting... right now, there's too much "what do you want to say?" "This is what you are saying." "would you like to send?"..

It really needs fewer Siri interactions.

Siri: "What do you want to say to Michelle Schmidt?"

80's ponytail dude: "I will not be home until 8."

Siri: "Your message says: 'I will not be home until late.'"

Lost

Can't wait to get lost in my new $400k Ferrari while using apple maps. Until Apple admits their maps app sucks and goes back to Google, than they will just be seen as arrogant. And with no offline mode for apple maps, it's useless if you lost service.

"Honey?"

"Yah??"

"I just got a new app for my iPhone..."

"Ok... how much?"

"$75,000..."

The Mercedes App... now available on the app store (and local dealership)

The app is FREE it's the in-app purchase that gets you. #

From the article: "Apple has promised new CarPlay-compatible vehicles from a number of manufacturers in 2014, including Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, and Volvo, with a dozen other manufacturers signed on as partners with unspecified launch timeframes."
