Go check out the "what to think about this G5 thing" thread
I think the end of 2002 is realistic for G5, but I thing Apollo G4's may allow enough of a shift in spec to allow some changes in the case and motherboard to move toward G5. Apollo may serve as an interim "simulated" G5. Of course there would have to be some creative board design involved to get all the pieces to sync. We may get our 4th memory slot back, DDR, all duals and a faster HD spec (EIDE 100 or, dare I say it:fibre-SCSI). We may even see a new case- both the Apollo and the G5 run at much lower power levels so the heat handling space in the case could be significantly reduced.
