What are the implications of integrated flash?

An eventual legal issues?

What is flash inside the browser is more stable than when using an ie plugin?

The question is, where does thie leave Microsoft?

Fair? Does Microsoft have the option of integrated flash? I would think it should be able to use the same code as googls.

I bet there is alot of useless and redundant crap you own/do so get over yourself:cool:

It's advertising and their money to use as they see fit

Get over myself?

What are you spouting on about? I simply stated my opinion. What do you care? I have nothing against Google. Why has this turned into something personal, with people rolling eyes and telling me to get over myself.

You have to be kidding me. :D

When Google came out with V8 the first time round they took all the bragging rights and then the Apple Webkit team topped them with the Nitro engine.

The non javascript stuff uses the Apple Webkit engine, which Apple worked on initially (forked from the KHTML codebase). So yeah, my point is: this is a silly question.

ok....why cant apple work with adobe like google did? Better?

Is there any way to get a "Top Sites" like interface in Chrome? Only reason I stay with Safari tbh because the Firefox extension that supposedly mimics it is garbage.

Great making of video! Can't wait to see the finished videos!

Oh, and good job on Chrome 5! ;)

What are the implications of integrated flash?

Looks like Google is planning to run Flash inside a more secure process sandbox. That way, if they find a security problem, they might be able contain it within the sandbox without having to wait for Adobe to fix the problem (which Apple claims is too long a wait).

Just installed....

I never really notice "speed" increase with browsers due to my limited connection speed, but scrolling/switching tabs/etc seems to be a good bit peppier. Now lets see if it solved my little problem with youtube (yes...youtube...using both html5 & flash) crashing my browser.

Congrats to the advertisement team of Google. It's a really great concept, and will make for some really great advertisements. And how can you think these commercials are wasting tons of money?... The most expensive thing there is prolly the high speed camera... if you have a problem with that your a fool.

The Flashblock extension works just fine in Chrome.
Otherwise I wouldn't use Chrome.

Don't worry. All those annoying ads will soon be delivered as H.264 videos for HTML5, and then you'll be screaming for a H.264 blocker for your browser...

This is what I like with Google: they don't care about what the future of the web is, they just support what the present of the web is as good as they possibly can. Just because Flash isn't going to be important in a couple of years doesn't mean you can't make it run as good as it can while it's still important. And who knows what exactly the future of the Web is?

Chrome has become my prime browser on my mac now.

Firefox has just lost their way. It is the same old web browser story. Someone takes the lead, because bloated and slow and someone else steps up and fills the void.

From netscape to ie, back to netscape back to ie, to firefox and now to chrome.

I don't know how all browser developers eventually lose their way. I am sure Google will with chrome at some point as well. They become future burdened, bloated, and ultimately massive memory hogs.

Going to chrome was a blessing because I got tired of firefox requiring a complete shutdown to free up memory. Facing memory leaks on it in windows and mac for years, I was just so glad to move past it.

I never could get into safari on the mac. Just not my cup of tea.

I just don't understand how anyone can think that video was stupid. IMO, it's the definition of innovative advertising, and I had a blast watching it. Tons of science and engineering went into it.

Just a reminder, this "integrated" Flash plugin will supersede the new "Gala" Flash Player plugin released last week which provides hardware acceleration of Flash content.

So just disable the integrated Flash 10.1.53.22 in about : plugins (should be at the top). That will allow Flash 10.1.81.3 (Gala) to work properly.

ok....why cant apple work with adobe like google did? Better?
How about asking a little more specific of a question, hard to answer what you ask given its vagueness

Anyway you do realize that the Flash plugin is currently included by Apple in Mac OS X... right? It is also updated in software updates from Apple.

Nah, I don't mind seeing the ads. I block the flash because of all the processor power it chews up. I don't have anything on my system that blocks JPG ads.

Awesome work Google. Really solid browser.

My question though (and anyone who could answer this will have my gratitude): when I download a new version of Chrome (as in the latest .dmg file), why can I not simply drag and drop the new application into the Applications folder like every other application on the planet? Whenever I try to do it with Chrome, it won't let me. So I manually delete the old application, which requires a password to delete it. This is also unusual, and is something I've never come across with other applications.

Who cares....it's not your money

I like it....and I like myth busters too

But shouldn't it be Myth Busters who are doing the testing?

I mean, wouldn't a third party results be more palpable to the viewing public had someone other than Google, designed all the tests themselves and filmed all the tests themselves and what of the control tests and all the stuff the Myth Busters do? Oh, except have a bone in this fight!

Or better yet... now that there are the Google videos out there (or soon to be). Maybe Myth Busters can create tests of their own with Google Chrome and Apple Safari and FireFox and Opera and maybe Internet Explorer. Of course, each web browser has things that are standard and things that are not so standard so that may askew the results... I don't know...

It just kind of bugs me to take the word or in this case the video of a company who is setting the experiments and setting up the cameras and doing all the takes for THEIR product. Get the third party who do the benchmarks to set the tests and capture it on video.
