Hello everybody. I've been a long time Android (mainly Samsung) user and when looking for a phone to replace my S20 Plus I decided what the heck, see what all this Apple fuss is about :). I love electronics so it was intriguing to me to see how different iPhones are. I seriously considered the S22 Ultra and Pixel Pro 6 but figured I can always go back. So I picked up a 13 Pro Max in Sierra Blue a few weeks ago and am still learning the differences.

I'll wait a while longer before deciding which system I prefer but have already noticed some things I like, and some that I don't. Which is only natural. Below is a picture with my new Apple Black Cherry leather case I got for it today.

Welcome to iPhone/iOS.

Many of us here use both Android and iPhone. If you have questions, just ask.

Many of us stay on iOS due to inertia- nothing to learn and it’s all very familiar and doing stuff has become second nature.
But that’s because many of us have been using it for years.

I remember using an iPhone for the first time (4S on iOS 8) and while I had used both a Mac and Windows computer (dozens of them) for over 20 years, I was not mentally prepared for the unintuitive, dumbed down yuckiness of iOS.
I hated it.

I hated it so much I tossed my iPhone in a drawer and didn’t look at it again for a month. Disgusted.
Then as time went by, I thought that maybe I was a bit too rash in my decision to throw it all under a bus — so I got it out of the drawer and played with it again.
Soon I got disgusted with it once again and back in the drawer the iPhone went for another month.

Off an on I’d repeat that exercise (feeling guilty at my revulsion of it) and get it out and play with it a little bit.
Over time, it eventually stopped bugging me so much until — dare I say, it didn’t bother me so much anymore.

Eventually I got used to it and sort of liked it because it was familiar by then - and eventually — it was fine once I accepted it for what it was and stopped wishing it would be something else.

iOS today is better than it was in the dark days of iOS 7 and 8 so it’s not so aggravating to use today for a new user.
But take my experience as a guide: you may not like iOS initially, but given enough time, it’ll grow on you.

Welcome to the iPhone. My bet is you'll be staying with Apple, and for a number of reasons, but the main thing is to enjoy and make good use of the device.

René, is that you?
Wish I could enjoy my Apple products as much as you, quality control has been trash for years for me. I’d still never switch, but it’s definitely not buttery smooth 24/7 or never not pleasant.

Nice! I have nothing inherently against Android but it's been ages since I daily drove one. Would love to hear your thoughts on the switch!

I’ve always tried to remain open to both iOS and Android as friends and business associates use both, however in a five to one ratio, iOS to Android. Been on Android since the beginning, enjoyed the directness of the OS and its flexibility. However during my first and only experience with a Pixel, the 6Pro, I went head to head with a very flawed phone design and an extremely unprofessional and intransigent group of Advanced Tech Support folks at Google and realized I needed a change from Google’s universe. The iOS 13 Pro Max has been an outstanding phone and the transition from Android was easier than I thought it would be. Will probably pick up a smaller Samsung phone in the future to compliment the Apple but my suggestion to OP, use whichever phone or OS you like and just enjoy it usefulness.

As a user of both platforms, imo there is enough room for both. There are things that Apple did much better than Android, but there are other common features on Android that Apple would never have.

Simply get the best tool for the job. :) Reading the comments here and people around me that have the 13 Pro Max, I only hear good things about it.

Taken as a single piece of technology, an iPhone 13 is very much comparable to a S22.

In its ecosystem, though, it’s a simphony simply incomparable with any other solution on the market. There’s no going back once you taste it.
I've been with the iPhone since the 5. My current version is the 11 Pro Max. I like iOS, but by necessity have used other methods because Apple is not a symphony when you use older Macs and older devices.

I've also not really been interested in Apple'e ecosystem, with the exception of iMessage (which isn't really necessary to my needs anyway).

Perhaps all I need is the iPhone 13?

What happens when the 13 is old and no longer Apple's flagship model?

I first learned how to use android because I'm the go to guy in terms of tech but I have owned several old iPhone and iPod touch models since 2016... The newest model I owned is iPhone 7 Plus... I've been following news about Apple since early 2010's so I think I can also help you regarding iPhone...

When people talk about integration we assume you're at least using gear that can run the current OS revisions. If you've chosen to continue to use, say, a Mac that's 12 years old and cant be upgraded, that's a choice you've made and you have to acknowledge the consequrences of that.

For example, my iPad Mini 2 still works and I use it almost exclusively to read ebooks and listen to podcasts, but it can't be upgraded past iOS 12 so some integration stuff doesn't work that well. But that's something I did. Not Apple.

Also, 'integration' means different things to different people. I most value simple integrations - iMessage syncing, Reminders transparently showing up everywhere, etc.

LMAO!!! not a fan, he turns a 10 minute video into a 30 minute video.

Been lucky when it comes to quality control, only had one issue with my M1 iPad Pro, got it exchanged for a new one.

Your opinion in the end, definitely buttery smooth for me and many others.
