Not me, but will the built in camera turn some people away, because of the whole "spying" on them, or the feeling their being watched?

Is Apple just reduced to gimmicks these days? I use my computer to make a living, where's my help from them in doing that?

Yeah kids, flame on.

No flame,

Read the fine print.

They have faster processors now, Better onboard Video, and (I am not sure) Faster FSB, More memory (and cheap to upgrade), and a more functional Mouse.

If you don't want to sue Front Row, or otherwise, just don't.. I don't use all the features of my PM G5, but it isn't any less of a computer!

They're sticking with the 9600/X600 for one reason, I'd imagine: it generates very little heat. In my old HTPC, I used to run my 9600 Pro card without a heatsink or fan. That means a lot in a tight case like the iMac's.

Very good point. The video card is more than adequate, so why push your luck? Especially if Apple trimmed off some more of the iMac's size, then most deifnitely heat issues like this would become more important.

If you mean pro Macs... who said pro Macs have to be out at this PARTICULAR event or not at all?

Good question :) Does this iSight close off in some way, like the regular iSight does? Maybe they have a stopper you put in the hole :D

I also noticed they changed the displays...

250 cd/m vs 200 cd/m and 500:1 vs 400:1 and 140° horizontal 120° vertical vs 120° horizontal 90° vertical (17")
280 cd/m vs 230 cd/m and 800:1 vs 400:1 (20")

If it requires an IR interface for the remote, then you might be screwed... :( Not sure though, I'll be going through Apple's site with a fine tooth comb for all the juicy details later tonight.

No matter what though, I think I'm out of luck with my 1.25 GHz G4 iMac. :( :D

Not if they make or support USB IR receivers for that remote ;) . You can buy them for the PC wold, we will have to wait and see if apples software will support them natively!

USA the price is down $100
In Japan the price is down 10000 yen
but here in the UK the price remains the same.
Boooo

I see with the launch of ATI's X1800 etc series of graphics cards, means that the X600 processor is at the bottom of the consumer pile - (X300 doesn't count only used by dell and office PCs).

Nice too see DDR2 - however I see that their is only one memory slot free for the consumer - hence the max memory size of matching memory modules is 1GB - I suppose that's no big deal.

No dual core - booo. 5% (100MHz) change in CPU spead, yay?

AND the "tour" keeps crashing my browser...quicktime niggle...grrr

I wanna see...

Sorry guys, pc trouble, I am throwing my toys and acting like a troll because my browser stops me having fun on the tour... cuz I gonna buy an iMac soon

Check out the new universal iPod dock.

Yes, that's better than nothing. However this is still an excellent video card. And really, who absolutely requires the latest and greatest video card anyway? I have an FX5200 and it does me just fine, no complaints.

Definitely not a video card to drool over, but also not a video card to be disappointed with.

Exactly. Complaining about the X600 is total rubbish. It will get good framerates in any Mac game except Doom 3 (and even that will probably play acceptably enough for all but the most demanding). A better card would of course be nice, but I'm far from disappointed.

Anyway the most important thing about this card is the new bus; PCI-E will almost certainly show up in the next Power Macs, and you naysayers will be able to feast your eyes on Mac versions of the very latest from nVidia and ATI.

Apart from hardcore gamers (who shouldn't be using an iMac anyway) the X600 series is more than sufficient for just about everyone's needs.

Good point - let's hope this is the case! After the dust settles hopefully this will become clear. I definitely think it would be in Apple's best interests to do this...

Why is everyone drooling over the X600 XT/Pro? It's just the 9600 XT/Pro with PCI-Express instead of AGP. There is not even a small performance upgrade there. Just an already slow graphics card on a new connection. Pointless. 9600/X600 are the same cards on two different standards, one of which is a waste and is just a marketing ploy to make it sound faster. If anything, the slight processor speed bump will be the reason of game performance gains, not this graphics card. Still, very nice update for the graphics, now only a 1.5 year old graphics card instead of a 2.5 year old graphics card.
The x600 XT is about 50% faster than the 9600 (not XT, not Pro) that was in the last revision.

hmm, You may be onto something. Now we need to see if they sell the remote separately. In the past Apple made it hard to use aftermarket IR remotes for their systems with built in IRDA.

If they sell the remote, and or support outside remotes (which wouldn't be hard to do) then we may be in business!!

Precisely, coudn't have put it better myself. If Apple had put a more powerful video card in the new iMac it probably would have caused the thing to overheat due to its strict space limitations as well.

And yes, PCI-E is the most important thing. I would much rather have PCI-E than AGP, it is a far superior technology.

I may be wrong™.....

Didn't the rev b imac 17" come with a 2GHz PPC? It is home, in my kitchen and thus I cannot confirm.

Seems weird to go backwards in MHz.

Where the hell are the updated powerbooks????? I'm freak'in out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If your're so upset about it, I'm sure that if it's only on order (not even in your possession yet!) you could cancel.
