Thank you, Apple, for forcing me to buy another keyboard when my current one is completely sufficient. Why do you have to point a virtual gun (a beautifully designed new product) at my head and make me buy this?
Take a second and look at the key labels. They've removed the Apple logo from the command keys and replaced them with the words "Command" - I doubt it. The volume keys are shared with the Exposé functions as well? That spells horrible experience for new users. At least on the laptops, the F1-F8 keys are generally not used for anything so putting the media keys there works well. There is no way they made that move.
And no USB ports? Really Apple?
I don't believe it. If it's real, god help us, they're keyboards are getting worse by the year. At least sell it for only $20 so it's no so damn painful to keep replacing them. My problem with their last two keyboards is the quality. I literally was replacing my Apple keyboard annually, until I bought a Matias Tactile Pro. C'mon Apple, give us a keyboard that lasts!
The reason these keys are missing is because an extra part to this keyboard is missing. A matching brushed metal Apple Remote can magnetically be connected to it, which includes volume and so on. Similar to the detachable Logitech DiNovo keyboard. They are there from F10 onwards.
What's the whole point of keeping the Apple logo there? It confuses new users when someone tells them "Command" key, which people use more often than "Apple" key. Getting rid of the logo makes room to put "command," on it.
And how could this be fake? How could someone go to this much trouble? The keys even use the same font as those on the MacBooks. Look at ALL the photos. It's difficult to be skeptical.
I believe it.
I'm glad they took the Apple logo off the Command key. Is this the return of Steve's "don't use the Apple logo in vain" thing from the early days? Too many people say "Apple key" instead of "Command key" IMO.
I'm not so much of a fan of moving the eject from the UR corner. It'll be hard to re-learn where everything is.
It seems like the metal is powder coated rather than brushed like the MacPro. It would certainly be cheaper to produce that way.
The only thing i don't understand, and I may be just stupid for not getting it, is that if lying flush on a table there is a gap. I may be missing something....
F4 is a small clock, and therefore Time Machine?
I doubt its Power, why have a power button on the keyboard of a Desktop?
Hm... there's something suspicious about the photograph showing the bottom of the keyboard, the one with the components sticker. Looks like somebody has cloned over the left hand side of the casing. The white colour is off in an inconsistant non smooth graduation (like you would get under normal conditions) compared to the right half. It's a darker and cooler colour than the warmer/green/yellowish white of the other half. Raise the contrast in PhotoShop for instance if you can't make it out. You'll also see the sharp delineation that you'd get through amateur use of something like a PS clone brush.
Not implying that this rumour is fake, but that picture's definately been digitally altered.
Ahem...it's nothing new.

I'd be happy if they moved the eject button. I'm forever ejecting my CDs becasue of it's placement. It's especially bad on the laptop. My finger tends to overshoot the backspace/delete key.
Why does everyone hate this thing so much?
I realize a lot of people might not like the whole laptop-style-keyboard-for-a-desktop thing, but from a pure design perspective, this thing is innovative and very attractive. I think most design-philes would agree with me on that.
Or not. I dunno.
It's real in the sense that it's a physical keyboard from Apple. Only time will tell whether or not it's the production version though.
I think it looks nice, but I am skeptical about how comfortable it would be to type on, considering how thin and edgy it is.
The Apple logo never made any sense on the Mac keyboard. It was just a historical curiosity, a holdover from the days when the Mac keyboard was also used for the Apple IIgs, where the open Apple actually meant something. I just can't believe it took them this long to finally get rid of it and add a more useful label. Huzzah!

Looks Photoshopped to me.
I'm hoping for a Bluetooth keyboard w/ a multi-touch touchpad. I know some people don't like 'em, but I'm loving the two-finger scrolling on my MacBook.
Its also a fake by the poor layout of the keys. The artist isn't an engineer.
Because it's the brand of the keyboard. But there's no reason to have two different symbols on the same key to do the same thing. It's officially the Command key, there's no reason to have an Apple on it. I wish they took "Alt" off the Option key as well.
Aside from semantical reasons, it's probably too confusing for switchers. The Windows key activates the Start menu on PCs, but the Apple key doesn't open the Apple menu, it's just another control key.
Bit boring? It's a keyboard for crying out loud. Should it have large flashing neon lights all over it?
Looks cool, but what I really want is a real, powered USB port. It's *really* annoying having to turn my mac around to plug in a USB key or a photo card reader.
Looks good i just hope its ergonomic
Someone doesn't remember the hockey puck mouse....![]()
ITS A PROTOTYPE
I'm fine with using aluminum, just use it for the keys too. The problem with plugging the 1st gen shuffle into this is that it rests on the USB ports at an angle. With no other feet (which seem unlikely given the design), then the keyboard would be resting on the shuffle, which is probably a bad idea. But, as I mentioned, you probably wouldn't want to plug it in there anyway.
