As the owner of an aging iMac Pro, I would update to a 27" iMac, with the right speed, RAM, and storage. And, for me at least, $3999 might be an acceptable price. (I bought my iMac Pro for $3999 on sale -- list was $4999).

It would be interesting if Apple could put MacBook guts into the existing Studio Display as well as include keyboard and mouse. Voila!—new 27in. iMac.
They literally could attach those guts to the back of the monitor! I’m sure some people probably considered taping their mini in such a fashion to get the iMac feel !

Interesting how they stagger the releases and will have M1, M2 and M3 devices in their lineup at the same time. All mixed up from entry to pro with blind spots, leaving consumer to make confusing trade-offs.

Would have been far more logical if they have an entire M1 lineup and then upgrade all devices to M2 etc.

I don't think they will sell vary well. Everyone who wanted a 24 inch machine bought one. The rest waiting for a 27 > incher.
There are some of us who quite like the new 24 design, but we are waiting for higher specs.
I’m glad they’re keeping the color palette, if that’s true.
In general, me too. That said they could change a couple of the colours. I think a Space Grey 24 iMac would look good. I suspect the Purple, Pink and Orange mighn’t be as popular as the others.

Call me old fashioned but I’d personally prefer a thicker iMac in exchange for a slim bezel. How often do you look behind the display? Hardly ever but you always see it’s front. It’s even more „in your face“ now that they removed the Apple Logo on it
I think this is one of the best designs iMac Apple has ever designed. It looks so nice! Way ahead of its time! 🤩

What product sale would they be cannibalizing? The studio display and largest iMac are only 27” so a 32” would be a new SKU that Apple could demand even more $ for. I’m guessing we don’t see a 32” iMac because of low customer demand or some kind of supply chain issue.

Given the options available for the current M2 MacBook Air then an M3 iMac with available 24 or 32GB RAM will be a long awaited “must purchase“ for me.

To add to my own comment: the only reason they do this is to rake in more money.

The biggest tech company in the world could easily release a full line up for each Mx processor. But in this maze they created, the consumer is always on the quest for that new perfect machine. Smart.

Has gurman been right on anything in the last 12 months? Also apple must be dealing with supply chain issues or internal capacity which is causing the weird launch cadence. I think when it comes to computers, like the phones they would benefit from some consistency and setting expectation better on launches. Also gets rid of the gurman guesses which whipsaws everyone’s expectation.

I’m glad they’re keeping the color palette, if that’s true. They knocked it out of the park with the current colors. I may buy another Green one when they’re updated to M3.
They knocked it out of the park…
… if the park is in the middle of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory color matched to the Oompa Loompas’ hair dye.

You're probably not a teen, or college age. Apple doesn't sell to people that have learned to be discerning. Not enough profit.
Yep. There’s a lot more money selling a machine based on cringe colors and planned obsolescence. Please, have a look at the 8GB of soldered RAM, and give me a valid argument to the contrary. Next, show me the green Apple environmental logo directly next to the bright yellow iMac in 2030 burning in a trash heap on a beach in Accra, Ghana…

… then censor the truth away on the forum because the comment is “political”. 🤣

Some delusions really do take a lot to maintain.
