I would love a real needed improvement on the mini. Unfortunately we all know that's not gonna happen. But I can still hope...

ugh i just got mine less then a month ago.
The speed boost and hd boost wont matter that much will it?

Dang It!...I got fed up with waiting on Tuesday and ordered a custom iMac which is being shipped as we speak....am I SOL on returning it? Can I refuse delivery? Do I have any options? I am pretty sure apple has a no return policy on any custom orders.

My parents refurb iMac they just bought is sitting at the post office right now, we got fed up with putting up with the current computer, however if we waited until next week to get a new gen iMac, I would be out of the province for the summer, and my parents would have to put up with a dying PC that constantly needs reformatting once every other week.

Lending credibility to this rumor is the fact that Windows XPee SP3 is supposed to be available for download on TUESDAY, April 29th. A good opportunity to steal some of the limelight from the competition by introducing new Macs on the same day. Maybe we'll get our own SP3 for Leopard on the same day (i.e. 10.5.3).

They said it will be twice as fast and with 2 HDs, each twice as big as the current ones... kidding! ;)

Probably not much. Maybe from 2.0GHz to 2.2GHz (2.4GHz->2.6GHz, 2.8GHz->3.0GHz). Maybe from 320GB to 500GB and (probably) 2GB RAM standard, since Macbook has it... my 2¢

maybe blu-ray

If you're going to speculate, at least do it in the realms of possibility. No wonder they call you mad. People thinking that Blue-ray is going to get into a Mac before 2009 - or at the very best late 2008 - are just pissing in the wind.

Geeksugar (via Gizmodo) claims that the long awaited iMac refresh is due next week. GeekSugar correctly predicted MacBook and MacBook Pros in the final hours leading into the last update, which turned out to be accurate. Rumors of both iMac and Mac mini updates have been persistent for weeks. At a minimum, the iMac is expected to adopt the most recent Penryn processors. The iMac was last updated in August, 2007.

have I told you I LOVE my MB!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:apple::apple:

Hopefully either one or more happens in this update:

1. Option for Glossy or Matte screen; and (or)
2. Standard or Option for a better Video Card; maybe
3. A 30" iMac.

Not a big fan of the Al/Black combo prefer an Al/White or Silver tone. Nõ real reason for me to upgrade just yet. This 24" White iMac fits the bill quite right. :D

Rather than a matte or glossy option, i think a non-glare coating on the current glass screen cover would go a long way at addressing all of the complaints about screen reflections.

It'd be nice to see updates to iMacs! Although my friend who just bought a new 24" a few weeks ago won't be that happy to see it.

I hope they stop using cheap displays. I went back to a white 2.16GHz C2D because the new ones are horrible.

I kind of agree. On the current 20" iMac you have to be just in the right position in front of the display to have the colors right. I like the shiny glass and how bright they get, but the viewing angle and colors aren't as good as on the white Intel iMacs. Haven't seen them side-to-side though.

Get Dell Ultrasharp displays. the 2005 and 2007 models are great. I wish there was a way to hook up two 1850x1050 to my Mac Mini. I mean, the GMA950 in my Macbook can drive the built-in display and a big external. :-(

so who thinks they are working with intel to get the montevina a few months before anyone else, like they did with the quad cores in the macpros? I think that they will just wait until the montevina is done and put it in, I just don't see them putting in a penryn for 8-12 weeks. Does anybody we will see the introduction of blu-ray this summer? I think by wwdc we will here something.

I just hope it is slightly smaller(below the screen where there is just a big plate and the apple logo), has a quad core option, supports 2 4gb chips of ram, and has at least the 8800gt 512mb, and a blu-ray drive. and maybe move the microphone from right by the speakers. but, only time will tell. I love my iMac for gaming, but there is alot of room for upgrade before it would be a higher end gaming computer.:apple:

i am thinking we will just see a processor update for now though, if anything at all.

Can we assume Apple has wised up and will put the matte screen option back? Isn't it the only Apple display product that doesn't have that option?

Blu-ray would be a welcome addition. I wish they would have a read-only option, but from what I've heard there will only be what you might call a Blu-ray Superdrive.

I hope this is true, I've been holding off on a 54 machine order for these new iMacs and I don't know how much longer I can hold off... :p

if it's build to order, yeah, you get to keep it. but look on the bright side, you ordered a great computer and will have years of use/enjoyment out of it. all it looks like you are missing is a speed/HDD bump. not too big of a deal.

matte would be awesome as an option! but at least i am happy that they go from 2.8 to 3.06 and add a better graphics card :) :)
and i think hd is staying 500 gb.

No, the iMac will not be the first to get montevina, skipping penryn. I mean, nothing wrong with dreaming, but I'm trying to put in a little dose of reality here. Bumped iMacs will simply have penryn processors and 320GB HD on the base and 400GB on the upper models.

Been Waiting To Upgrade!

At last, I've been waiting for this upgrade. Hard Drive increase is always good. The only question I have left is if to go 20" or 24"?
