I can't believe the 24" iMac, after nearly a year, decided to downgrade from a 7600GT to a HD2600 Pro. Words can't describe how sad I am...how on earth can I rationalize paying for that?? How on earth did Apple rationalize paying for that?? Did Apple make some sort of "Well no one else is going to buy your cards, so you're going to give them to us for free" deal with ATI? What about the heat issues?

Oh my science, this is confusing.

WTF are you talking about? The HD2600 Pro is a better card than the 7600GT.

The macbook keyboard is one of my favorite keyboards ever.

I will be MORE THAN HAPPY to sell my current bluetooth keyboard to get the new compact bluetooth keyboard.

I love the new iMac, I can't wait to get one. and the new keyboard.

I am quite positive that the majority of the people who encounter the iMac, switchers and veterans alike, will mostly love it.

AWESOME DAY!!

They look absolutely gorgeous. I have no idea how apple pulls it off redesign after redesign. They always seem to up the bar. I can't wait to see one in person.

Now to find the cash and convince myself that I need one.......

edit: might just buy a keyboard to start :D.

I have a tough decision to make. My wife bought me a 20" imac last week, and I have until tomorrow to return it, at which point I could get the new one. I'm not sure I like the new one however. Should I keep it or go with the new one?

I'm just stunned. Guess I'll save my money now until the next iMac update.

Hope you don't need a computer in the next 360 days. After putting the 8600GT in the MBP, I thought it would be the minimum for the iMac. This really is a stunningly bad choice. And knowing Apple, we'll be stuck with it for another calendar year. Wow.

Get the new one. Much better industrial design. Stronger. Faster. Sleeker :)

I think the design looks pretty cool, much nicer than the last ones. I might be getting one ;)

Hey everyone, I'm going to waste my time bitching and moaning about how I hate Apple and their newly released products.

Oh wait, no I'm not.

I love the specs and look of the new iMac and BT keyboard and will be ordering it soon!!!

Trouble with the store?

Why is the store still down:

"Did not receive any response from application. It is possible that the application does not exist, or that the requested url is incorrect."
(message from their server)

I did notice if you search on apple.com you see the new products in the shop.

iMac ordered from the Apple Store :D

I went for the 20" 2.4Ghz Core2Duo with Radeon HD2600 Pro.

Estimated dispatch date 14th August.
Estimated delivery 15 or 16th August.

Next step is sticking the PC on ebay!

800MHz Bus

You're looking at the desktop Core 2 Extreme, of which some are quads. However, the laptop Core 2 Extremes are dual core only. So therefore the iMac uses a mobile processor which is dual core - the Intel Core 2 Extreme X7900 - it's not even officially released by Intel until September.

What does the 800MHz bus of the iMac tell us about the machine? Is that a desktop bus speed these days, or are we talking laptop hardware here? (I admit I haven't been keeping a close eye on the PC market for the past year.)

I think its pretty much a no brainer to return the computer and get the new one. While i am dissapointed in the new model it still looks far better than the last generation and its hardware is better. And if you wife got you the ilife software pre-installed you would get the new updates for free as well.
