Well I've plumped for the 2.4GHz 24" with a 750 drive. I'll slap some more RAM in it when it arrives. Between you lot and me, I may see some improvement from this over my 1.42GHz G4 Mac Mini connected to a 1280x1024 17" TFT, aka my first ever Mac. That super-cheap Mini sucked me in to this world and now I'm dropping 19,000 SEK on another one (not to mention the iBook G4 that got bought a few months after the Mini).
And I am this: super, super excited. Seriously.
Maybe this is the problem, people talking about trading in Core2Duo machines and stuff. Maybe people don't leave it long enough to see sufficient change between machines. Hell, I left it too long but right now I am glad I am.
The only real bother is that there are no Apple Stores in Sweden so I bought it online and it is currently sitting in Shanghai.
August 21st is going to be a bloody great day though. Bloody great.
Chin? Never bothered me.
Glass? I'll take it or matte. Both are good.
Keyboard? If I hate it I shall use my old Apple keyboard.
GFX card? OK, I normally game on consoles, but even then I find it hard to believe, as some people seem to think here, that the one in the iMac is so seriously underpowered. One thing Apple loves is quietness and something that the reviews have said so far of the new iMac is that you can hardly hear it. You won't get that with the next generation of gfx cards. Something has to give.
iSore? Give me a break. Ah, who cares. So some people hate it. I don't and I'm getting one. Go me.
One thing I am looking forward to is extended desktop using my old monitor. Will the Mini-DVI adaptor that I used with my iBook G4 work with the iMac or has it got a different connector? Does anyone know?
