There ARE 2 different keyboards. 1 is a wired macbook like keyboard, with numkeys. Looks JUST LIKE the prototype photos. 2nd is a wireless compact design. Both photos are correct.

Sorry if they don't have images of everything up yet. How was I supposed to know that there were two different versions when half of the live coverage sites don't have images of both versions up?

I seriously hate that black border around the screen, and the black on the back, seriously, is the golden age of apple design over so soon?

OpenGL has nothing to do with DirectX 10 class features.

OS X 10.5 is OpenGL 2.x standard and Core Animation requires it.

Yes, and nearly all DX9-class GPUs, given appropriate driver support are fully OpenGL 2.0 compliant. At the present time, there's no benefit from a DX10-class, unified shader GPU in an OS which doesn't support DX10 other than performance benefits a new generation of GPU may have over the previous one. Sadly, the 2400XT is not faster than the X1600...

direct quote from engadget...
"New iMac. Also, new keyboard. You might have seen this on the web. Two USB ports. 0.33", full complement of keys, including dedicated keys for screen dimmer and brighter, expose, media controls, volume controls, eject for optical drive. This is the new iMac with the new keyboard and mouse. Wireless? New wireless keyboard, beautiful, very compact. People love to hold them in their lap. Bluetooth 2.0, all these dedicated keys as well."
"

and I'm not scolding you, just pointing out the facts...

Not buying

I have my credit card out to buy. But now I am putting it back in my wallet.

WTF?

No number pad. I do a lot of data entry.

Glossy screen. I sit with a window behind me. I would have to redesign my office. Why can't they do an option like the MBP?

I will look into a Mac Pro, but I will need to save more money.

EDIT: THANKS FOR POINTING OUT THE WIRED / BLUETOOTH VERSIONS. STILL UPSET ABOUT THE GLOSSY. I JUST TESTED A GLASS OVER MY CURRENT MONITOR. IT IS QUITE UN-VIEWABLE. PHOTOS LOOK GREAT, IF I COULD ONLY SEE THEM.

read above, numkeys are on the wired keyboard. wireless is the option to have keys like a laptop.

2 DIFFERENT KEYBOARDS.

Tee hee hee. I am so happy with my current, white, real-keyboard, NON-REFLECTIVE-SCREEN 24" iMac. Thank god I didn't think about waiting any longer.

Get the wired version then, and you CAN use other keyboards, it isn't like apple forces you to use theirs.

I'm going to look at the BTO options before I draw any conclusions. I'm impressed by the design, but not very impressed with the specifications.

the glossy screen kills it for me also...
love all the other goodies, but the glossy screen with no option to get a REAL screen scraps the possibility for me...

DirectX has nothing to do with OpenGL.

A DirectX 9 driver can be OpenGL 2 compliant as they aren't interrelated technologies.

They address different markets and purposes.

DirectX 10 is designed for Vista exclusively.

DirectX as you should know is a family of APIs focused on audio/video.

OpenGL is focused solely on 2D and 3D Primitives.

OpenGL Shading language adds Textures and Shading to 2D and 3D Primitives.

OpenGL 2.1 adds sRGB support, OpenGL Shading 1.2 and pixel buffering to the GPU to perform efficient Vector image transforms.
