Weird Messages from the store

Hi all,
I dunno if this always occurs at a product refresh, but the store is doing some odd things. For at least the last 10 minutes I have been getting strange messages after trying to open either the "new iMac" page or the "new Mac Mini" page.

First:
Did not receive any response from application. It is possible that the application does not exist, or that the requested url is incorrect.

Then:
No instance available

----
Well, now it says the store is down again, so they must have noticed, and are probably fixing it by the time this is posted. Just noticed and thought it was kinda interesting.

They are using only merom(santa rosa platform) processors. 2.8ghz is slightly overclocked x7800.it is an unlocked processor running at 2.6ghz with multipliers upto 15x(so max 3ghz possible).

So the new iMac looks like a giant iPhone. We should have expected that.
iLife'08 looks like a nice incremental improvment over '06.
iWork'08, with a true word processing interface and spreadsheet, will banish all Micro$oft apps from my home computers. Hopefully we'll do the same at work because we no longer need Word's track changes feature (all documents are checked into subversion).
I still think Apple is looking at .Mac from the wrong perspective, but the changes they've made today should slow the exodus of frustrated users.

Two things I really hated about today's announcement:
1. "It's an all in one world" - Steve Jobs
2. Glossy displays

Translation:
1. We'll NEVER introduce a consumer tower/desktop.
2. Oooo shiny!

My response to Apple:
1. I'll NEVER buy another new Mac (hooray for the used market)
2. Over-saturated colour. Sorry Apple, another step toward mediocrity I won't be taking with you.

Mac Mini has a "New" graphic on it at the store, though I get the "store is down" page when I click on it. Maybe I can get my parents to move over to Macs finally.

really, aside from the screen size, what is the difference between the new mac and a mbp?

both are super thin, both have super thin keyboards, both have strong specs.......so you're telling me the only difference is if you either want:

1. portability, or
2. large screen ??

The big difference is the processor/motherboard. Laptop chips/mobos (as in the old iMac) run slower, have a slower system bus and can't take as much memory.

Soo Good and Me happy :)

Very good design improvement - even though I still like the snow-white iMac.

I was in the US-store and it said one could order 2.8 Ghz Extreme CPU :p but then I got thrown out

Quote from new iMac Tech Specs page:

"2.0GHz or 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, or 2.8GHz Intel Core 2 Extreme processor"

The liveblogs all got it wrong -- it goes up to a 2.8GHz C2E. YAY :p

ooh. i like. Very sexy.

However, is there no way of VESA mounting a 20" imac? I was just about to buy one but strangely for me that's actually a killer. It will have to be a mac mini with my Dell screen after all.

No mention of vouchers for OS upgrades - how long would i have to wait for that?

Lots of people quibble about 'the chin'. I had a new iMac for 2 weeks in April, and I loved the chin- great place to put stickies on.

*beep* *beep* *beep* you apple. right when I was starting to save some money. now I gotta sell this old Duo iMac and get one of these.

wow!

Can't wait to find out the UK prices. No doubt we'll get ripped again!

Won't the Extreme processor version cost an absolute boatload?? Aren't they significantly more expensive than the regular procs?

Alright!

Take THAT you chinless naysayers! The "chin" SURVIVES!

Bwa-ha-HA!

Without it, the new imac would have been a faceless screen in a sea of conformity.

I am happy to see the face is still there...staring back....smiling...sticking its chin proudly in the air.

LONG LIVE THE CHIN!!!

well said - no chinless wonders here eh!
