Just look at the differences in the position of the arrow keys.

Rumored keyboard:

New iMac keyboard:

if you look at the pics of the keyboard on apple's website, the arrow keys look more like the rumored pic and not the real pic. i think steve has himself a fake. :)

so i'm guessing the 2.8 c2e is a worthwhile upgrade? can't check the price on it yet.

[edit]
ouch... $2299.00 pretty steep...

Solid updates, although I can't have one of these babies until I am halfway paid with my new car...but they will certainly represent a great leap ahead compared to my 2GHz iMac G5...

It's always great to see new Apple products. ITS TIME FOR PEOPLE TO BUY THE NEW iMACS AND POST PICTURES IN THE iMAC THREAD SO I CAN LOOK AT THEM ALL DAY :D:D:D!

So the new iMac looks like a giant iPhone. We should have expected that.
iLife'08 looks like a nice incremental improvment over '06.
iWork'08, with a true word processing interface and spreadsheet, will banish all Micro$oft apps from my home computers. Hopefully we'll do the same at work because we no longer need Word's track changes feature (all documents are checked into subversion).
I still think Apple is looking at .Mac from the wrong perspective, but the changes they've made today should slow the exodus of frustrated users.

Two things I really hated about today's announcement:
1. "It's an all in one world" - Steve Jobs
2. Glossy displays

Translation:
1. We'll NEVER introduce a consumer tower/desktop.
2. Oooo shiny!

My response to Apple:
1. I'll NEVER buy another new Mac (hooray for the used market)
2. Over-saturated colour. Sorry Apple, another step toward mediocrity I won't be taking with you.
Just wait till leopard gives you warnings while installing apps downloaded from the web. "You've downloaded camino from www.caminobrowser.com, would you like to install". Unless I can turn that off on the final release Tiger I shall use for man more days to come.

Can't wait to find out the UK prices. No doubt we'll get ripped again!

Won't the Extreme processor version cost an absolute boatload?? Aren't they significantly more expensive than the regular procs?

20" From £799 inc VAT

Forget the iMac - it's nice but not enough flexability for me in IT Support.

But show me the silent Mini updates - I've been waiting patiently for a media computer for the front room!

From iMac Design page: "The use of recyclable glass and aluminum makes iMac friendlier to the environment, too."

You gotta love Apple's effort to please the green people.

I don't know if this is possible on the old iMacs, but you can connect a 2nd monitor to the new ones. Awesome!

Think about it, folks. Remember the leaked photos? People were asking why they moved the eject and volume to no longer be above the keypad. Now we know ... because the BT version has no keypad, that way the buttons stay consistent across the board.

Yep, thats what jumped out at me when I finally figured out there were 2 keyboards.

What's up with the black border??? Don't know I like it. All glossy huh? Is that the screen or a clear protective cover over the screen. The way my kids scratch them things it might benefit from a cover.

Keyboard Confusion Clarified

Apologies if this is already in the thread. The WIRED keyboard has regular numerical keypad etc while the new WIRELESS model has the numerical keypad chopped off. Top is the Wired model, Middle is the Bluetooth model, Next is the Edge of the Bluetooth model and Bottom is the Edge of the Wired model.

Bonus fact:

Wired is the first Apple Keyboard to have Dual USB 2.0 ports on them - one on each END. So you wind up with 4 USB 2 ports not 3. Two on the iMac and two on the wired keyboard.

Have fun upgrading your ram or replacing your HDD new iMacsters that case is going to be a mother ****er to open.

I will have fun because the bottom of the imac has a screw and when you unscrew it a little door pops off to add ram. :)
